Battle for 2nd place on points table between Invincibles and Rockets
Oval Invincibles Women to win
It is great competition happening at The Hundred Women’s Competition, 2021 and we are already seeing sides fighting for a place in the Eliminator. The Oval Invincibles Women and Trent Rockets Women share 6 points each going into this game, and they would be eager for a victory here. The Invincibles won their last game comfortably against Birmingham Phoenix Women and the Trent Rockets Women to come here after defeating Welsh Fire Women.
Oval Invincibles Women openers have played brilliantly in the last and this would add to their confidence since this was the problem area for the side in earlier games. They would be playing in home conditions and shall have better knowledge about the surface. Trent Rockets Women are no pushovers, and we expect to see great fight out in the middle in this game.
Dane van Niekerk’s side came out of its two-game losing spree to register a massive win the last game. It was good efforts with the ball and the bat from the side that saw them defeating the Birmingham Phoenix Women by 8 wickets in the game. As they play at home in the next game van Niekerk would look to make good use of the familiar competition and move ahead on the points table.
Georgia Adams and Dane van Niekerk set up a 90-run opening wicket stand in the last game and they would like to provide a similar start. Fran Wilson and Alice Capsey have missed out in most games and the side would like to see good show from them in the middle order with Sarah Bryce. In Grace Gibbs, Mady Villiers and Natasha Farrant, the side has good hitters of the ball down the order.
Alice Capsey and Natasha Farrant did well with new ball in the last game and the side would like to see similar show from them here. Dane van Niekerk kept the scoring rate under check and shall look to carry this form forward. In Maddy Villiers, Eva Gray and Danielle Gregory the side has good depth in its bowling.

Three wins in a row has boosted the confidence of Natalie Sciver’s side after they had started the tournament with two losses. It was a convincing 4-wicket win for the side in their last game against the Welsh Fire Women in a low scoring game. The side would like to carry on with the same form and book a berth in the next round with a win here.
Rachel Priest and Sammy-Jo-Johnson went out cheaply in the last game and they would look to put up a strong platform. In Natalie Sciver and Katherine Brunt their middle order looks good at the moment. The side would like to runs from the likes of Heather Graham, Sarah Glenn and Abbey Freeborn towards the end of the innings in this tough contest.
Katherine Brunt and Sammy-Jo-Johnson bowled tight lines with the new ball in the last game and similar show would be needed from them here. London would see cloudy skies and there are chances of rain during the game on August 08. The batting conditions won’t be the easiest here and batters would have to play to the merit of the ball. The side that bats first shall aim to put up 140 runs on the board.
Kennington Oval, London is increasingly turning into a bowler friendly surface when the skies are overcast. The ball swings a lot in the air creating doubts in the minds of the batsmen, but the shorter square boundaries do make it easy to score runs. Spinners have had tough time bowling on this surface.
It is a difficult wicket to set ab total on as we have seen most sides win games here in the past chasing the scores. Having a victory target in mind allows the sides to pace their innings well and hence the side that wins the toss here should have no hesitation in bowling first.
Both the sides have the same number of points going into this game. Trent Rockets Women have made a tremendous comeback with three consecutive wins, and they are looking in positive frame of mind. The Oval Invincibles have looked good and their batting has finally found form. It is expected to be a close game but Oval Invincibles playing at home would start favorites in this game.
