Pakistan and England will face off in the fifth T20I of the seven-match series in Gaddafi Cricket Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday.

The home team managed to register victories in the second and fourth match of the T20I series. The Men in Green managed to level the seven-match T20I series with a close win over England in the fourth T20I played on Sunday.

On the other hand, Liam Dawson’s all-round heroics was not enough as England lost the previous match by a close margin. Currently, the seven- match T20I series is level at 2-2 with three games to go.

Pakistan Preview

The home side will be pleased with their performance in the previous game against England. Despite pulling off a close win, the team management will be concerned over lack of acceleration from the likes of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.

On the batting front, the visiting team will be relying on the likes of Captain Babar Azam, wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan, Shan Masood, Khushdil Shah, Asif Ali and Mohammad Nawaz to score the bulk of the runs.

In the previous game, wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan continued his rich vein of form against England. The 30-year old played exceedingly well and finished the innings with the top-score of 88 runs off 67 balls with the help of nine fours and one six. He was well supported by Captain Babar Azam, who chipped in with 36 runs off 28 balls.

Power-hitter Asif Ali played a brisk innings of 13 runs at the back end of the innings to help Pakistan post a competitive score of 166 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

On the bowling front, the onus will be once again on the pace trio of Mohammad Hasnain, Haris Rauf and Mohammad Wasim Jr. to provide timely breakthroughs. 

In the previous game, Haris Rauf had a fantastic outing with the ball in hand and claimed 3 for 32 in his four overs. Besides Rauf, pacer Mohammad Hasnain put in an excellent performance and finished with figures of 3 for 35 in his four overs.

In the batting department, the hosts will be relying on the likes of openers Alex Hales, Phil Salt, Will Jacks, Harry Brook, Ben Duckett and all-rounder Moeen Ali to score the bulk of the runs. 

In the previous match, Liam Dawson smashed a quick-fire 34 off 17 balls with the help of five fours and one six. Besides Dawson, Harry Brook scored 34 runs off 29 balls, whereas Ben Duckett chipped in with 33 runs off 24 balls.
