The 2 heavyweights of Asia go head to head, in the 5th game of the Women’s Asia Cup. Pakistan and Bangladesh have both got off to winning starts in the competition and will want to consolidate upon it. In spite of it still being quite early in the tournament, both teams will want to register a win on the points table to solidify their spot. Bangladesh women made a really good start and seem to be in really good form, being undefeated in the last 5 games they have played. However, they will be weary of the Pakistani side as they have not been able to defeat them in the last 5 matches played against each other.

The Pakistan side, on the other hand does not come with the best of form behind them but puts up a convincing performance against Malaysia. Going into the game against Bangladesh, they will want to string a few positive results before reaching the tournament's final stages. Bangladesh would be raring to go as they would want to continue their momentum and finally get a win against Pakistan, who do not seem in great form. Coming into the tournament with a bad run of games had zero to no effect on the Pakistani Squad as they beat Malaysia with 9 wickets to spare, in a contest where the Malaysian team were made to look like passengers throughout the match. The bowling department made easy work of the Malaysian team, restricting them to 59 runs in 20 Overs. Omaima Sohail was the star of the bowling lineup, picking up 3 wickets for 19 runs in 3 overs. Tuba Hassan was economical, picking up 2 for 13 runs, whilst Diana Baig and Sadia Iqbal picked up 1 wicket each. The team would be disappointed not to have bowled the Malaysians out, but this is like picking up a needle from the haystack. 

The Batting department finished the job as expected in 9 overs, losing one wicket in the bargain. Sidra Ameen was the top scorer, scoring 31 runs before departing. Muneeba Ali and Bismah Maroof ensured the win was secured. The Pakistani side would have been desperate for such a performance to kick start their tournament and will now want to build up on it.

Bangladesh Women started off their campaign against Thailand Women in the first game of this edition Women’s Asia Cup. Bangladesh seem to have continued their impressive run coming into the series, as they made easy work of the Thai team, who seemed to have no chance in the contest whatsoever.

The bowling department won the game for the team in the first innings itself, as they ran through the Thai batting line-up, bowling them out for a mere score of 82. The bowling was sublime, but Rumana Ahmed was the show's star, picking up 3 wickets for 9 runs. Shohely Akhter, Nahida Akter, and Shanjida Akter also picked up 2 wickets each, rounding up a solid bowling display.

The Bowling department made easy work of the total, chasing it down in 11.4 overs, losing 1 wicket. Shamima Sultana missed out on a well-deserved half-century by 1 run, scoring 49 runs which consisted of 10 boundaries.
