The battle to rank among the Top 4 on the points table is heating in the Indian Premier League 2022. The Punjab Kings would be taking on the Rajasthan Royals in the 52nd match in what promises to be a very important game for the side. The Royals lost their last game against Kolkata Knight Riders and sit 3rd on the points table. The Punjab Kings have moved up to the 5th spot after their win against the Gujarat Titans.
Rajasthan Royals have played like a well-oiled machine this year and punched above their weight. Jos Buttler has been in incredible form for the side and has won them games. They have won the last three out of four games against Punjab which will add to their confidence. It remains to be seen if the Punjab Kings can defeat them and move up on the points table.
It was just the kind of performance Mayank Agarwal’s side needed to get things back on track. The side ticked all the boxes in the last game as they defeated the table-toppers Gujarat Titans by 8 wickets. The fact that it came against the Titans would add to the side’s confidence. They need to maintain the same momentum and a win here would take them closer to a berth in the playoffs.
Shikhar Dhawan has been the star performer for the side, and he would need support from Jonny Bairstow while opening the batting. Bairstow’s lack of form is hurting the side and he needs to come up with a good show. Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Liam Livingstone must show consistency and add runs with Agarwal in the middle order. Jitesh Sharma and Rishi Dhawan will face a good bowling attack and they must do well.
Kagiso Rabada bowled his side to a win in the last game and a similar show would be expected from him and Sandeep Sharma with the new ball. Arshdeep Singh has done well and the side he would have to put brakes on the scoring rate in the middle overs. Rahul Chahar must get over his poor form as it has hurt the side. Livingstone and Rishi Dhawan add to the side’s bowling options.

Sanju Samson’s side will need to come out of their back-to-back losses. The side lost against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the last game where they failed to accelerate and ended up 20 runs short of a good score. They are 3rd on the points table and a win here would assure them of a berth in the next round. Samson would like his side to regain form as they enter the most crucial phase of the tournament.
Jos Buttler has scored more than 500 runs and his performance is crucial for the side’s fate. He will look to set up a big opening wicket stand with Devdutt Padikkal. Samson has looked good, and he will look to add runs with Darryl Mitchell and Riyan Parag in the middle overs. In Shimron Hetmyer they have a good finisher, and he would need support from Ravichandran Ashwin in this crucial game.
Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna form a good new ball attack as they complement each other, and the side would like to see early strikes from them. Yuzvendra Chahal has bowled well, and he would be tasked with keeping the score under check with Aswin. Parag, Mitchell, and Kuldeep Sen add to the bowling options for the side which is an advantage for them.

We expect to see a hot and humid evening in Mumbai on May 07. Batting conditions have been good, and we have seen more than 180 runs being scored in the first innings on average. The ball is coming onto the bat nicely and bowlers have found it tough to bowl on this wicket.
Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai is the perfect venue for T20 cricket as batsmen enjoy batting on this surface. High-scoring games have been the norm over the last few years with the flat surface and fast outfield being merciless to the bowlers. There is little in for the fast bowlers on this wicket, but spinners do well when they get the ball to turn.
In the last five games played at this venue the side batting first has managed to win only one game. There is some assistance for the bowlers early in the game, but the wicket gets better in the second innings. The side winning the toss here would have very little hesitation in opting to bowl first.
Punjab Kings come here with a win, but there are several problems the side faces and the biggest of them relates to the inconsistency of their middle order. Rajasthan Royals have depth in their bowling and a top-order that has shown excellent form this year It will be a close game, but the Rajasthan Royals would start favorites thanks to the form of their key players.
