It is after a while that the Papua New Guinea would be taking on the United States of America in an ODI game. The two sides have met thrice in the past and the United States has emerged victorious in two of these games. There isn’t much to choose between the two sides either on their ODI rankings as USA is currently 19th in the ICC rankings and PNG are just behind them. 

Both the sides haven’t fared well in this format of the game in the past couple of years. While the United States have lost the last five games in a row, Papua New Guinea has suffered eight consecutive losses, and this would be playing in their minds. Given the strengths of the two sides we expect this to be a close contest.

Eight losses in a row would be hurting Assad Vala and his men. The side which has shown good promise in T20 cricket hasn’t been able to crack the code in the ODIs. Vala’s side would be under pressure going into this game and having lost the last two games they have played against USA. He would like to see good show from his players and a win in this game. 

The side would like to see runs flowing from the bat of Tony Ura and Charles Amini in this game. The middle order has good experience with the likes of Vala, Lega Siaka and Kiplin Doriga in the team. Norman Vanua and Simon Atai have good hitting abilities and they need to make good use of it here. 

Nosaina Pokana and Norman Vanua would like to take on the inexperienced American batting line-up with the new ball. Vala brings in the much-required variety and experience to this attack. The side would also like to good show from Damien Ravu and Lega Siaka in the middle overs.

Saurabh Netravalkar would be leading a relatively young side in this game. This will be the first game for the side in this format in more than a year and hence there would be pressure on them to perform. They haven’t done well in this format and come here with five consecutive losses. Netravalkar would look to end the losing spree with a win in this game. 

The side would like to see good start here from Gajanand Singh and Sushant Modani and the two would be tasked with putting up a good stand here. In the middle order the side has good strength in the likes of Monank Patel, Aaron Jones and Dominique Rikhi. They would also need runs down the order from Jasdeep Singh, Nostush Kenjige and Nisarg Patel. 

Steven Taylor and Elmore Hutchinson have good experience and they need to make good use of the new ball in this game. Netravalkar would look forward to leading from the front with the ball. The presence of Nisarg Patel, Kenjige and Jasdeep Singh in the side strengthens their attack.
