Islamabad United would be looking for a perfect start in the tournament as they take on the Peshawar Zalmi in the 5th game of the Pakistan Super League, 2022. The Islamabad United had done well last season and they would look to repeat the same magic. The Peshawar Zalmi come here with a massive win and they would like to carry that momentum forward. 

Islamabad United will face a tough challenge in this game against a confident Peshawar Zalmi. Their bowling attack lack experience and the absence of Colin Munro in the middle order is also a big loss. Shoaib Malik led from the front in the last game and guided his side to a 5-wicket win against the Quetta Gladiators in their opening game. Their batsmen played well to chase down a big score clinically. Malik would however like to see better efforts from his bowlers as they gave away too many runs in the last game.  

Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Yasir Khan set up a good opening wicket stand in the last game and the side would expect a similar show. Haider Ali shall need to score runs at a better strike rate. Malik and Hussain Talat played stellar knocks and they would look to set up a platform for Sherfane Rutherford, Ben Cutting, and Sohail Khan to add quick runs down the order. 

It was an extremely poor show from their bowlers against the Gladiators and the side would like to see a good burst of bowling from Sohail Khan and Sameen Gul with the new ball. Patrick Brown, Cutting, and Talat will have to bowl better lines here. Usman Qadir used the conditions well and he would aim to do the same along with Malik.

Shadab Khan’s side had played brilliantly last season to top the points table during the league stages only to go down in the playoffs. Khan would want to put that upset behind and make a positive start to this edition of the tournament. They have retained most of their players from last year and shall aim to start the same way as they did last year. 

Alex Hales was brilliant during the Big Bash and he would look to make a positive impact opening the batting with Rahmanullah Gurbaz. The middle-order has quality players in Shadab Khan, Muhammad Akhlaq, and Paul Stirling. The side would also expect to see good hitting down the order from Faheem Ashraf and Asif Ali in this game. 

The side has a good bowling attack and the new ball pair of Hasan Ali and Reece Topley shall look to deliver early blows. It will be a tough challenge for the bowlers against Zalmi’s batting strength and the side would expect tight spells from Shadab Khan, Mohammad Musa, and Mohammad Wasim Jr in this game
