We are into the 9th game of the Pakistan Super League, 2022 and we shall have an interesting contest between the Peshawar Zalmi and the Lahore Qalandars. Both sides have won a game each so far. Peshawar Zalmi went down against Islamabad United in their previous game while the Qalandars come here with a win against the Karachi Kings. 

It is interesting to note that both sides have struggled with their bowling so far especially the Peshawar Zalmi. It was a massive win for the Qalandars in their last game and they would look to make use of the momentum. The two sides match well in terms of team strengths, and we expect to see a close contest in this game.

Peshawar Zalmi Preview

Wahab Riaz returned as captain, and it was a terrible show from their bowlers in the last game against Islamabad United. The side put up 168 runs on the board but went down by 9 wickets. Riaz was injured in the last game and the side would want him on the side. They will have to bowl well as a unit to win this game given the batting strength they are up against. 

Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Yasir Khan failed in the last game and the side would need them to deliver the goods here. In the middle order runs Shoaib Malik would have to guide the youngsters and add runs with Haider Ali and Hussain Talat. In Ben Cutting and Sherfane Rutherford, they have powerful strikers of the ball and runs would be expected from their bats. 

Sohail Khan has been expensive with the new ball, and he would have to get early wickets along with Wahab Riaz. Usman Qadir and Patrick Brown haven’t got their lines right and the side would expect a better show from them in this game. Talat did well with the ball in the last game and he would aim to bowl tight lines with Cutting and Malik in this game.

The Qalandars come here with a comprehensive win. Shaheen Afridi’s side defeated the Karachi Kings in their last game by 6 wickets. Their batsmen have looked in good form in both the games the side has played but it is the bowling attack that is giving them a headache. Afridi shall have to lead from the front and expect a better show from his bowlers here. 

Fakhar Zaman has looked in tremendous form and he would aim to provide the side with a good start opening with Abdullah Shafique. The side has good strength in the middle order with Mohammad Hafeez, Kamran Ghulam, and David Weise in the side. They would also want to see fast run-scoring towards the end from Ben Dunk, Samit Patel, and Rashid Khan in this game. 

Afridi and Zaman Khan must bowl tight lines in this game with the new ball as Peshawar Zalmi have good firepower with the bat. Rashid Khan has been the pick of the bowlers and he would need to do well in the middle overs with Haris Rauf. Weise, Patel, and Hafeez are experienced bowlers, and the side would like to see strong performances from them in this game.

National Stadium Karachi has one of the best batting surfaces in Pakistan with a flat track and fast outfield. It is a tough venue for the fast bowlers in this format of the game with no assistance for them. Spinners get good rewards from the surface as the ball grips the surface and turns sharply.
