It is Game No. 5 at the Marsh One-Day Cup 2022-23, and Queensland shall take on Tasmania. Queensland would face pressure in this game after their poor performance in the last match against South Australia. Tasmania has started the season on a positive note defeating South Australia by a big margin in their first game.

Queensland has won the last three games against Tasmania, which would make the side confident. They have a strong batting lineup, which will look to bounce back in this game. Tasmania won't make it easy for their opponents and have their batters in good form. We will see a close contest between bat and ball in this game.

Queensland Preview

It was a bad start to the season for Usman Khawaja's team. The side performed poor with the bat in their last game against South Australia, going down by 61 runs. The bowling attack did a fair job in the previous match. Khawaja shall like his side to bounce back and earn their first points for the season.

Usman Khawaja must lead from the front and set up a big partnership with Sam Heazlett in this game. Sam Truloff played a good knock, and he must add runs in the middle order with Matthew Renshaw and Marnus Labuschagne. The lower middle order failed against South Australia, and the side would need runs from Jimmy Peirson and Michael Neser in this game.

Michael Neser and Xavier Bartlett did well in the last game with the new ball. They must strike early to put Tasmania under pressure. Laim Guthrie leaked runs, and the side would expect better spells from him in the middle overs. Mitchell Swepson, Labuschagne, and Renshaw have to do well in the supporting role.

Queensland Predicted Playing XI:

Usman Khawaja (c), Sam Heazlett, Sam Truloff, Matt Renshaw, Marnus Labuschagne, Jimmy Peirson (wk), Michael Neser, Xavier Bartlett, Gurinder Sandhu, Mitchell Swepson, Liam Guthrie

Tasmania Preview

Jordan Silk's side made a positive start to the season. It was an excellent show from his players in the last game against South Australia, whom they defeated by 8 wickets. Batting looks good for the team, and Silk would like to continue with the same momentum. Queensland shall come hard at them, and the Tasmanian skipper shall like his players to play positive cricket.

Caleb Jewell hit a big hundred and set up a 198-run stand with Ben McDermott. The duo would look to provide a similar start. Silk is an experienced player who will look to steer the middle order with Beau Webster and Jake Doran. Macalister Wright and Tom Andrews must play well down the order in the finishers' role.

Riley Meredith and Tom Rogers did well with the new ball in the last game, and the side would expect a similar show from them in this game. The team would like to see good spells from Beau Webster and Jarrod Freeman in the supporting role. Peter Siddle looked good; his experience is a big bonus for the team.

Tasmania Predicted Playing XI:

Jordan Silk (c), Ben McDermott, Caleb Jewell, Jake Doran (wk), Macalister Wright, Beau Webster, Tom Andrews, Jarrod Freeman, Tom Rogers, Peter Siddle, Riley Meredith

Weather Conditions

The skies over Brisbane would be see slight cloud cover on September 30. The pitch is dual paced and this doesn't allow the batters to play their strokes freely. They will need to be watchful and play according to the merit of the ball. Any score of 280 and above would be a fighting total on this track.

Venue Details

Allan Border Field, Brisbane, balances it nicely between the batters and the bowlers. The small size of the ground offers plenty of hitting opportunities but there are good rewards from the surface for the fast bowlers who can seam the ball. Spinners have also done well here using the slowness of the surface.

Toss: To Bowl

The wicket offered good support to the bowlers in the early overs in the last game. There would be some support for the bowlers in the early overs of the game. Both the captains would look to use this opportunity and we expect the side winning the toss to bowl first on this wicket.

Tasmania has made a confident start to the season with a big win. Their batsmen looked in good form in the last game, and the bowlers did well. However, the side would face a more formidable challenge in this contest. Queensland has a strong batting lineup with good stroke makers in the side. It will make them favorites in this contest.
