We are into the 35th game of the Indian Premier League 2021 and this game between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings would be an interesting one. RCB resumed their campaign on a poor note suffering a crashing defeat against the Kolkata Knight Riders while on the other hand CSK won convincingly against Mumbai Indians which would boost their confidence.  

Chennai Super Kings have enjoyed a good record against the Royal Challengers Bangalore with eight wins in their last ten games. They also come here after defeating the defending champions and look in the right frame of mind. It will be interesting to see if RCB is able to put their loss behind and take a step closer to a berth in the playoffs.

Virat Kohli’s side resumed the tournament in the worst possible manner. Having started the game as outright favorites the side went down against the Kolkata Knight Riders by 9 wickets after being bowled out for mere 92 runs. The side would face a big challenge against the Chennai Super Kings and Kohli would want his players to put the loss behind and stand up to the task here.  

It was a complete failure of the top order in their previous game and the side would need a good show from Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal. In the middle order they have good strength and need AB de Villiers, Glenn Maxwell and Srikar Bharat to do well in the game. They need to get Wanidu Hasaranga, Sachi Baby and Kyle Jamieson to do the big hitting towards the end. 

Jamieson was expensive in the last game and the side would expect a good show from him and Mohammad Siraj with the new ball. Yuzvendra Chahal will need to play a very important role here in the middle overs along with Harshal Patel and Wanidu Hasaranga after their poor outing in the last game. Their bowling attack is looking weak, and they will face a tough challenge against CSK’s batting depth.

Chennai Super Kings Preview

It was the perfect win that MS Dhoni would have liked but the skipper would be happy with the 20-run win against the Mumbai Indians. The win has taken them to the top of the points table and Dhoni would like to retain that with a win here. Their batting looks in poor shape and this is something that the CSK skipper would like to work on in this game. 

Rituraj Gaikwad played a match-winning knock in the last game, and he would like to provide a good start with Faf du Plessis. In the middle order Moeen Ali, Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu failed in the last game, and they must deliver the goods here. Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo and Shardul Thakur add depth to this line-up and make it formidable. 

Deepak Chahar and Josh Hazelwood will look for early wickets against the struggling batting line-up that RCB have at the moment. Moeen Ali and Bravo bowled well in the last game, and this would add to their confidence. With Thakur and Jadeja in the mix, they have the attack to trouble RCB.
