Tournament: Indian Premier League 2020 | Format: T20 | Venue: Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates | Toss: To Bat
Bet NowIt is expected to be one of the most intense battles of Indian Premier League 2020 when the Royal Challengers Bangalore takes on the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 28th game of the season. Both the sides have won four out of their six games this season and look in good form. The Royal Challengers won against the Chennai Super Kings in the last game while Kolkata Knight Riders won a thriller against the Kings XI Punjab.
The games between the two sides in the past few seasons have been dominated by the Kolkata Knight Riders. They have won five out of the last six games played between the two teams and this would add to their confidence levels going into this game. The Royal Challengers after a shaky start are looking in good form at the moment and they would be looking to turn around their poor record against KKR. Given the kind of form the two sides are in at the moment we expect this game to be a thriller.
Virat Kohli’s side comes into this contest after a good win against the Chennai Super Kings. They did well with the bat led from the front by the skipper to win the game by 37 runs. With this win the side now has 8 points from four games. Kohli would however be aware of his side’s poor record against the Knight Riders and shall look to turn that around with a win in this game.
Openers Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch have failed in the last two games and the side would need a better start from them in this game. Virat Kohli is looking at his best for now and he will be expected to steer the middle order along with AB de Villiers and Washington Sundar. Given the small size of the ground de Villiers is likely to enjoy batting here. In Shivam Dube, Gurkeerat Singh and Chris Morris the side has good hitters down the order.
Their bowlers did a good job in the last game with Morris and Navdeep Saini keeping it extremely tight in the early overs. The side would be expecting a similar performance from them in this game. Isuru Udana also bowled well. Yuzvendra Chahal has been slightly expensive in the last few games but he brings in lots of skills to the table. Sundar and Dube add depth to this bowling attack for the side.

Best Bowler – Yuzvendra Chahal

Dinesh Karthik’s side have done it twice in a row, won a game from the jaws of defeat. The side held on to its nerves in the final overs to defend the score and win the game by 2 runs against the Kings XI Punjab. The side has few problems with the bat which Karthik would be looking to address in this game. He would take confidence from the record his side has against the Royal Challengers.
The opening pair of Shubman Gill and Rahul Tripathi look in good form and both these players has scored runs in the last two games. They will be looking to set up a nice platform for Eoin Morgan and Dinesh Karthik who built a match winning stand in the last game. Nitish Rana has gone quite in the last two games and the side will need a good hand from him. Andre Russell is yet to fire this season and the side would be looking at him to make good use of the smaller boundaries at Sharjah.
Their new ball attack of Pat Cummins and Prasidh Krishna id well in the last game and the skipper would want Cummins to use his pace and rattle the strong batting line-up they are up against. Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy also did well with the ball and in the last two games the bowling attack has won games for the side. Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Rana add depth to this bowling attack.

It will be a hot and humid afternoon at Sharjah on October 12 and we expect to see another batting friendly wicket where bowlers are likely to find it tough to contain the batsmen. They will have to mix their line well to beat the batsmen in the mental game. The side that bats first would need to score more than 200 to feel comfortable on this surface.
Sharjah Cricket Stadium is a high scoring venue where the small size of the ground and the fast outfield offers incentives to the batsmen. The pitch is good to bat on and allows batsmen to play on the up. There isn’t much for the bowlers where and both fast bowlers and spinners have failed to contain the batsmen and there is little margin of error form them here.
Five games have played here so far and the side batting first has won on four occasions. We have seen 200 plus scores being put up in this game on a regular basis. It has been a very difficult venue for the bowlers and hence both the sides would have no hesitation in batting first upon winning the toss.
It is expected to be a keen contest as both the sides are coming into this game riding on red hot form. The Royal Challengers Bangalore has a very strong unit but has been plagued by the problem inconsistency among some of their players. Kolkata Knight Riders too has similar problems and lower down the order the side is yet to find its mojo. There is little to choose between the two sides at the moment but Kolkata Knight Riders due to their better record against the Royal Challengers Bangalore would start nose ahead in this game.
