Royal Challengers Bangalore would be battling it out against the Mumbai Indians in the 10th game of the Indian Premier League. Both the sides have won a game each of the two they have played. Mumbai Indians have momentum on their side with a huge victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders in their previous game while Royal Challengers come here after suffering a crashing defeat against Kings XI Punjab

Over the years Mumbai Indians have enjoyed a good record against the Royal Challengers Bangalore winning the last eight out of ten games between the two teams. RCB’s inability play as a unit which has been seen across the last three seasons was on display in the last game as well. The team just doesn’t seem to fire all together. It will be a herculean challenge for them in this game and it remains to be seen if Kohli is able to guide his men over the finishing line.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Preview

Consistency just doesn’t seem to be the word for the RCB. Just as Virat Kohli’s side had ignited the spirits of their fans winning their first game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad they followed it up with a massive 97-run loss against Kings XI Punjab. Sloppy fielding and poor efforts with the ball led to their loss. The side will have to rise up to the challenge as they have an extremely poor record against Mumbai Indians.

Opener Devdutt Padikkal has struggled in both the games so far and the side will be expecting a good start from him and Aaron Finch. Josh Philippe and Kohli are yet to do well and the side will need them to fire in this all important game along with AB de Villiers who has looked good so far.  Down the order the side would need goo hitting from Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar to put up a big total on the board.

It was a terrible show from their bowlers in the last game where they ended up conceding more than 200 runs. Umesh Yadav and Dale Steyn were expensive with the new ball and shall need to do well in this game. Yuzvendra Chahal has looked good so far but the side will hope to see better show with the ball from the likes of Navdeep Saini, Sundar and Dube in this game as they will be up against the strongest batting line-up in the season.

Best Batsman – Virat Kohli

Mumbai Indians Preview

Rohit Sharma’s side comes into this game after a massive victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders. This 49-run win would have lifted the spirits for the defending champions who has started the season with a loss against Chennai Super Kings. Sharma would like his team to draw inspiration from their brilliant record against the RCB.

They have a very strong opening combination with both Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock having scored runs in the two games. They will look to provide a steady start to the side in this game. In the middle order Saurabh Tiwari and Suryakumar Yadav are looking in good form adding strength to the side. In Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya the side has good firepower down the order and they will look to score quick runs and the overall batting order looks rock solid at the moment.

The new ball pair of Trent Boult and James Pattinson did well in the last game and they would be looking for early wickets in thus game. Jasprit Bumrah’s return to form makes the fast bowling attack look good at the moment. Mumbai’s spinners Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya made a strong comeback in the last game after throwing the match against Chennai and they will look to exploit the weaknesses that RCB have at the moment.

Weather Conditions

It will be hot and humid afternoon over Abu Dhabi on September 28 and we expect to see a high scoring game. There hasn’t been much for the bowlers in the games that have so far been played on this track and batsmen are able to freely play their strokes. The side that bats first would have to target a score of 175 runs or more on this surface to increase its odds of winning.

Venue Details

A large ground, the Dubai International Cricket Stadium has a lightning fast outfield that allows the batsmen to score lot of boundaries. Fast bowlers have to make good use of the new ball on this surface as there is little assistance for them as the ball gets older. The large size of the ground does offer spinners more room to experiment and they have done well at this venue compared to other grounds in UAE.

Toss: To Bat

The last four games have seen the sides batting first winning on every occasion. The flat pitches have allowed the sides batting first to put up big scores on the board. While dew remains a factor at the toss, a good score is always difficult to chase here and the side winning the toss is likely to opt for batting first in this game.

This game would be important for both the teams as a win will put them ahead on the points table which is very important in the early days of the tournament. Royal Challengers were blown away in the last game and the problems with inconsistency which have hurt them in the last few seasons led to their undoing once again. Mumbai Indians are a stronger side of the two with good balance in their batting and bowling. With their excellent record against RCB, Mumbai shall start favorites in this game.
