Rangpur Rangers to win the match!
Tournament: Bangladesh Premier League 2020 | Format: T20 | Venue: Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka, Bangladesh | Toss: To Bowl
Bet NowBoth Rangpur Rangers and Sylhet Thunder have had pretty disappointing times in this tournament. None of the teams have won more than one game so far. In fact, they’ve had similar campaigns. Both teams won their first game after four losses in a row and started losing again.
The Rangpur Rangers batting has let them down on most occasions. They have put up scores in excess of 150 only twice so far. Meanwhile, Sylhet Thunder batting has done fairly well. In fact, they’ve been much better than the Rangpur Rangers. It’s the bowling that has often let them down. We are mid-way through in the tournament and both teams need to win almost every game in order to stand a chance to make it to the top four. They need to win big and improve their poor net run rate as well.
This is an interesting match-up as both teams are trying to turn the tide.
The Rangpur Rangers side was boosted by the addition of Shane Watson. The veteran Australian all-rounder’s inclusion also meant that he was the captain of the side. However, he failed in his first game as he scored just 5. But he will be itching to have another go.
Mohammad Naim has been inconsistent but he is the highest run-getter for the Rangpur Rangers as he’s made 176 runs in this tournament. Lewis Gregory has been brilliant with both bat and ball. The England all-rounder has scored 164 runs at a strike-rate of 150.45. He has also picked up eight wickets with the ball.
The likes of Cameron Delport and Mohammad Nabi have been disappointing and haven’t stepped up with the bat. Nabi has done well with the ball though. He’s been the most economical bowler in the team. Mustafizur Rahman has led the wicket charts and has taken nine wickets at an average of 18.00. He also has a strike-rate of 14.2.

Batting has not been a big problem for the Sylhet Thunder. They have as many as four players who have scored more than 175 runs and are averaging in excess of 35 in this tournament. Four of the top five have been amongst the runs. Andre Fletcher, Johnson Charles, Mohammad Mithun, and Mosaddek Hossain have all got runs.
Fletcher scored a fine ton a couple of games ago while Charles is leading the run charts. He’s scored 253 runs and is striking at 174.48. Mithun and Mosaddek have scored 179 and 175 runs respectively and have been key in the middle order. Sherfane Rutherford has got big runs as well and has scores of 38 not out and 26 not out.
It’s the bowling that has been disappointing. Krishmar Santokie and Ebadot Hossain have taken seven wickets each but they’ve been inconsistent too. Moreover, there is no other bowler who has been amongst the wickets. Nayeem Hasan and Nazmul Islam have just two wickets each in this tournament.

The Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka has produced some very good batting tracks in this season. The ball has come on to the bat nicely. It should continue to remain the same. Weather-wise, it is expected to be a decently hot afternoon with the temperatures hovering around the low 20s and humidity is 50%.
The Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka is one of the premier cricketing venues in Bangladesh. It is scheduled to host a total of 28 games in this BPL and 12 of them have already been played. The average first innings score at this venue is usually around the 150-155 mark.
There are no guesses for predicting what the team winning the toss might do. In this tournament, 16 out of the 24 matches have been won by teams batting second. Thus, whichever team wins the toss is likely to bowl first.
The return of Shane Watson will be a big boost for the Rangpur Rangers. He might not have made a difference in his comeback game but he is a destructive player. Moreover, their batting looks a lot more dynamic and they will be itching to fire. They might start this game as slight favorites given their strength with the bat.
Rangpur Rangers to win the match!
