As Rajasthan Royals take on the Delhi Capitals in the 23rd game of the IPL 2020 the pressure would be on the Royals to win this game. They are coming into this game with three consecutive defeats and currently sit 7th on the points table. They lost the last game against Mumbai Indians by a big margin. Delhi Capitals on the other hand comes into this contest with a big victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore. 

Rajasthan Royals have been inconsistent with their batting and the side has depended on few players to perform so far. Similarly their bowling attack has also looked toothless and allowed the opponents to put up big scored on the board. Delhi has its problems with the ball as well but their batsmen have been in terrific form. With lots at stake for the Rajasthan Royals in this game we expect them to play good cricket which will make this game competitive.

Steven Smith’s side has lost its way after the brilliant start to the season where they won their first two games. They have lost the last three games which has put pressure on the side. It was poor bowling and equally bad performance with the bat that led to their 57-run loss to Mumbai Indians in the last game. Smith will need to inspire confidence in the side in this must-win game. One more loss would make it extremely difficult for them to make it to the next round. 

Jos Buttler did well in the last game but his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal will need to provide him good support in this game. Sanju Sampson and Steven Smith have gone quite after their initial brilliance in the season and they will have to do well in the middle on this occasion. In Mahipal Lamror, Tom Curran and Rahul Tewatia the side has good firepower down the order but these players haven’t been consistent and this is something the side needs to fix as go into this game. 

Ankit Rajpoot and Tum Curran’s form with the ball has become a concern right now and they will need to bowl well. Jofra Archer has been the pick of the bowlers this season and the side would expect a good show from him in this game. Shreyas Gopal and Kartik Tyagi bowled tight lines in the last game in an otherwise lackluster bowling effort from the team and they will hope to carry this form into this must-win game.

Delhi Capitals Preview

Shreyas Iyer’s side is looking very strong at the moment. They are a young side and have played exciting cricket in the tournament so far. They registered a convincing 59-run victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the last game which came on the back of a strong batting performance. Iyer would like his side to carry the momentum into this game and reclaim their top position on the points table. 

They have a good opening combination going with Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan looking in great form at the moment and the side would be expecting another good start from them in this game. Shreyas Iyer and Rishab Pant are also looking in good touch in the middle order. With the hitting abilities of Marcus Stoinis, Axar Patel and Shimron Hetmyer to follow the batting line-up is looking formidable at the moment. 

With the new ball Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje did well in the last game but they haven’t had the best season yet. The side would expect them to pick early wickets in the game. Ravichandran Ashwin, Stoinis and Axal Patel bring in lot of experience to the board which adds strength to this attack. Harshal Patel had an ordinary day with the ball in the last game and he would be expected to do well in this one.

The side that bats first will have to target a score in excess of 180 runs in this game to feel comfortable.

Sharjah Cricket Stadium is a small ground and perhaps among the highest scoring ones in the world when it comes to big scores in T20 cricket. The ground is small and outfield is lightning fast. Batsmen enjoy this surface. There isn’t much for the bowlers where and both fast bowlers and spinners have struggled so far on this track in this tournament as there is small margin of error for them.
