It is the 44th game of the Indian Premier League 2022 and the Mumbai Indians would be playing for pride as they take on the Rajasthan Royals. The Mumbai Indians suffered another loss as their batting failed to click in their last game against the Lucknow Super Giants. The Rajasthan Royals did well to register their sixth win of the season against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Mumbai Indians have been demolished by their opponents this season. The side has lost all the eight games it has played so far and lost all its hopes of making it into the playoffs. The Royals on the other hand have looked the best side this season with great strength in their batting. It will be interesting to see if the Mumbai Indians can come up with a surprise in this game.
Sanju Samson’s side defended a small total of 144 runs successfully in the last game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore to register a 29-run win. With six wins in eight games the side is nearly through to the next round. They had defeated the Mumbai Indians earlier in the season by a big margin and Sampson would like to capitalize on that. Their opponents have struggled and the Rajasthan skipper would want to exploit this opportunity here.
Jos Buttler is having a dream season and the side would look to ride on his success. Buttler shall be expected to set up a good opening wicket stand with Devdutt Padikkal. In the middle order, the side has good strength with Ravichandran Ashwin, Sanju Sampson, and Darryl Mitchell playing well. Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag are known for their hitting abilities and they shall aim to do well in this game.
Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna found form as a pair in the last game and they shall have to grab early wickets in this game. Aswin and Yuzvendra Chahal are experienced bowlers and the side would expect a good show from them here. Mitchell, Kuldeep Sen, and Parag add to the side’s bowling options and this depth has been one of the reasons for their success.

The 5-time IPL winners have made headlines for all the wrong reasons this season. Rohit Sharma’s side has no wins to boast of after playing eight games and has been virtually knocked out of the playoffs with six games remaining. They lost to the Lucknow Super Giants by 36 runs in the last game and shall need a miracle to turn it around in the season. It will be interesting to see how they approach this contest with the side down on confidence.
Ishan Kishan has failed, and the side might have to rethink its opening pair with Sharma likely to open with Tilak Varma. The middle-order has done well, and the side would expect runs from Suryakumar Yadav, Dewald Brevis, and Aryan Juyal in this game. Kieron Pollard and Daniel Sams must come up with their contributions in this game as Mumbai’s top order hasn’t provided the starts the side would have liked to see.
On the bowling front, we have seen some improvements and the side would like to see tight spells from Daniel Sams and Hrithik Shokeen in this game. Jasprit Bumrah has shown signs of improvement in the last couple of games, and he must lead from the front being the best bowler on the side. Pollard is doing well, and the skipper needs to bowl him more. Jaydev Unadkat and Riley Meredith must play well in the supporting act.

We expect to see a warm and humid evening in Mumbai on April 30. We have seen lots of runs on this wicket as the ball has come onto the bat nicely. Bowlers have little margin of error at this venue. The side batting first in this game would have a target score of 180 runs or more to feel safe in this game.
Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy is a high-scoring venue where the ball comes onto the bat nicely and the fast outfield plays a complementary role. Fast bowlers have generally struggled at this venue as there is little for them. Spinners who use the dry surface well have enjoyed success.
This venue is known for big scores and we have seen several high-scoring games already. The side batting first always finds it a challenge to set a score here as big scores have been chased down easily. Both teams would have this in their minds and the side winning the toss would opt to bowl first in the game.
Mumbai Indians would have to come out of their shell and express themselves positively to win this game. The side would need a good start from its openers as this has been the biggest problem area for the side in this tournament. Rajasthan Royals in contrast have played well and beaten big sides easily. Their batting has done well and this would make them favorites to win this game.
