Rajasthan Royals would be taking on the Royal Challengers in what is being seen as their last chance to stay alive in the tournament. Rajasthan comes into this game having lost to Delhi Capitals in the last game which makes it five losses in their last six games and the team is going through a rough patch. Royal Challengers Bangalore has looked good so far but they also lost to the Kings XI Punjab in the last game and shall be eager to bounce back.

Royal Challengers Bangalore has been clinical so far in the season and their skipper has led the side from the front. The problems for Rajasthan Royals have been plenty where their top order hasn’t been consistent and their bowling attack is depending on just one player to win them games. The only silver lining for them is their record against the RCB and the side will look to draw inspiration from those wins.

Rajasthan Royals Preview

It has been a bad season so far for Steven Smith’s side after the promising start. They have managed just one win in their last six games. The side suffered a humiliating defeat by 13 runs in the last game after having the game in their bag which showed the lack of confidence among its players. Smith would know the importance of a win in this game which will help them keep the doors open for a berth in the playoffs.

Their batsmen haven’t really fired in the last many games. The side would be expecting a good start from Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler in this game. They are the players in form. Steven Smith’s lack of form is hurting the side’s confidence and Sanju Sampson too seems to have lost his way. In Robin Uthappa, Riyan Paarag and Rahul Tewatia they have a strong lower order but these players would be expected to show more consistency in the upcoming game.

On the bowling front Jofra Archer has been the most consistent bowler this season but he hasn’t found consistent support from other bowlers. Kartik Tyagi and Jaydev Unadkat will need to bowl more consistent lines with the new ball. Stokes, Tewatia and Shreyas Gopal add variety to this bowling attack but they will need to do well against RCB’s strong batting line-up.

Best Batsman – Jos Buttler
Best Bowler – Jofra Archer

Royal Challengers Bangalore Preview

Virat Kohli’s side has done well to be at the third spot on the points table though it comes into this game after suffering a loss against the Kings XI Punjab. They fought well till the end in the last game and lost off the last ball. Kohli would like his side to put that loss behind and focus on defeating Rajasthan once again after having won against them by 8 wickets earlier in the season.

Openers Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch need to build partnerships, something they have failed to do in the last few games. Kohli looks in sensational form at the moment and the side would expect yet another special knock from him. They will have to play AB de Villiers at No. 4 after the failed experiment in the last game. Washington Sundar, Chris Morris and Shivam Dube add lot of firepower to this batting line-up.

Morris and Navdeep Saini are looking in great form with the new ball and they have been troubling opponents. The side would expect a similar show from them in the next game. Yuzvendra Chahal has done well so far and nearly won the last game from a hopeless position. But it is beyond this trio that the bowling attack needs to fire. The side would be looking for better show with the ball from Isuru Udana, Mohammad Siraj and Sundar in the next game.

Best Batsman – Virat Kohli
Best Bowler – Yuzvendra Chahal

Weather Conditions

Weather conditions have been good at Dubai so far and we expect to see a nice and warm evening on October 17. The pitch has been a good one to bat right through the tournament though it has turned a bit slower in the last few games. Batsmen are striking the ball beautifully here. A score in excess of 170 runs should make the side batting first happy on this surface.

Venue Details

Dubai International Cricket Stadium is a large-sized ground but it has also been a high-scoring venue as the outfield is quick and the ball comes onto the bat nicely. Fast bowlers have to depend on their variations as there is hardly any assistance for them. Spinners have enjoyed a good record since the ball takes sharp turn and the odd ball also stops on the batsmen.

Toss: To Bat

The team batting first has won the last five out of six games that have been played at this venue. The pitch is at its best in the early overs of the game and starts slowing down as the game progresses. Hence, the two captains should have no hesitation in opting to bat after winning the toss.

Rajasthan Royals look in a hopeless situation in the second round of the league stage. They have lost several games from winning position so far in the tournament which is something that would bother the skipper. The side will need to come out of its shell to win this one. Royal Challengers Bangalore is playing as a well-oiled unit in the last few games. Their batting is looking very strong at the moment and this would put them ahead of the Rajasthan Royals in this game.
