Rajasthan Royals have a very challenging task on hand as they take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 43rd game of the Indian Premier League 2021. The Rajasthan Royals suffered a surprising defeat in the last game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and this has pushed them down the points table. The Royal Challengers come here with a massive win against defending champions Mumbai Indians. 

Rajasthan Royal’s batting has almost been a one-man show with skipper Sanju Sampson doing well for the side. He hasn’t found much support from others which is causing problems for the team. The Royal Challengers on the other hand seem to have finally got their acts together. It remains to be seen which of the two sides wins this game.

Back-to-back losses have hurt the momentum for Sanju Sampson’s side. Their inconsistency with the bat came to bite them in the last game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad where they lost by 7 wickets. The side wasted a good start to fall short by at least 20 runs. As they face the confident Royal Challengers Bangalore here the task is cut out. They must win this game to get into the playoffs. 

Evin Lewis needs to get going and offer a good start alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal as the side hasn’t received great starts so far in the tournament. Sampson is at his best, but he would need support in the middle order from Liam Livingstone and Mahipal Lomror which hasn’t been the case so far. Rahul Tewatia and Riyan Parag have been in poor form, and they need to deliver the goods towards the end. 

Their bowlers have been inconsistent, and the side would need the new ball pair of Chris Morris and Jaydev Unadkat to strike early knowing the strength in RCB’s top order. Mustafizur Rahman must play a key role in this game and use his variations well. The side would also like to see tight spells from the spin bowling pair of Chetan Sakariya and Tewatia.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Preview

It was a strong statement by Virat Kohli’s side in their last game against the Mumbai Indians. The side which had made a poor start in UAE put that behind with their 54-run win in the game and have taken a step towards playoffs. Kohli who is leading from the front would like to maintain this momentum and secure a place in the next round with a win in this game. 

Kohli has scored two half-centuries in the last two games and shall look to provide a good start with Devdutt Padikkal. Srikar Bharat and Glenn Maxwell played well in the last game and add strength to the middle order. The side would also expect fireworks from AB de Villiers in this game. In Daniel Christian, Kyle Jamieson, and Shahbaz Ahmed, they have good strength down the order. 

Mohammad Siraj has impressed so far, and he would aim for early wickets in the company of Jamieson who has been expensive. Yuzvendra Chahal’s return to form is welcome news for the side. Harshal Patel too comes here with his confidence high and adds variety to this attack along with Maxwell and Christian.

The condition in Dubai is expected to be hot and humid on September 29 and bowlers are likely to find the conditions challenging here. We expect to see batsmen scoring runs easily as the ball would come on to the bat.  The side batting first in this game shall have a victory target of 180 runs in mind.

Dubai International Cricket Stadium has a large outfield, but it is lightning quick. The surface here is flat, and this allows batsmen to play on the rise and score quick runs. It is a very challenging surface for the fast bowlers with little assistance for them. Spinners have enjoyed a good record here in the past.

Most teams have preferred to bowl first on this surface as the wicket doesn’t change much in character. Big run chases are possible on this flat surface when a victory target is in mind. Hence, the side winning the toss in this game is likely to opt for bowling first.
