It's all coming down to this Friday! South Africa and India are going head-to-head one last time in the T20 series, this time at the Wanderers. India lead the four-match series 2-1, after pulling off a thrilling win in the last match. So, it's do-or-die for the home team if they want to tie things up. India's had a lot of success at the Wanderers and they're playing well right now, so the Proteas need to bring their A-game if they want to come out on top.
154/5 in 13.5
180/7 in 19.3
South Africa fell short by 11 runs in their pursuit of a stiff 220-run target at Centurion. Marco Jansen’s (54 off 17) sensational effort at the end and Heinrich Klaasen (41 off 23) brief assault took them close, but they were never really in the chase. The game slipped away from the Proteas due to the 19 extras they allowed, compared to just 6 from India.
Moreover, South Africa’s top and middle order just haven’t stood up. Ryan Rickelton, Reeza Hendricks, Aiden Markram, and David Miller have all looked out of form. Klaasen did show sparks of brilliance in the last game, but couldn’t finish the job.
Tristan Stubbs has shown remarkable composure in an otherwise variable batting squad. He can be a key player for the home side in the series finale.
South Africa’s bowling has been wayward at times and looked out of sorts when put under pressure. Marco Jansen has been impressive and Gerald Coetzee has shown that he is a genuine wicket-taker, despite his tendency to leak runs. Andile Simelane and Lutho Sipamla will be targeted by the Indian batters again as they lack experience.
Key Players: Heinrich Klaasen, Marco Jansen, Tristan Stubbs
The South African openers have scored 27, 22, and 8 runs in the first wicket partnerships in this series, while the Indian openers have managed only 0, 0, and 23 runs. With the series on the line, we expect Reeza Hendricks and Ryan Rickelton to launch a strong opening partnership for the Proteas in the fourth T20I.

Tilak Varma's spectacular first T20I century powered India to an 11-run victory, securing a 2-1 series lead. His rapid partnership with Abhishek Sharma (50 off 25) made the most of the PowerPlay, and Varma continued his onslaught even as South Africa tried to regain control. India's total of 219/6 proved too much for the hosts to chase down.
India would be grateful that Varma and Sharma stepped up because the others have looked a little listless. Captain Suryakumar Yadav has looked out of touch throughout the series, while Rinku Singh has struggled to get going. Having said that, Surya is too good of a batter to remain out of runs for long and we are backing him for a solid performance in the final match.
The addition of Ramandeep Singh down the order has given India a boost as he looks like someone who can smash right from the get-go.
On the bowling side of things, India’s spinners continued to impress and make life difficult for South Africa’s batters. Although Varun Chakaravarthy was taken to the cleaners by Klaasen in the previous match, he still picked up two important wickets. Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel have kept things tight even on flat surfaces.
Fast bowler Arshdeep Singh was impressive, taking 3-37. However, Hardik Pandya is a weak link and is expected to go for runs again.
Key Players: Tilak Varma, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi
Chakravarthy's comeback has been impeccable, showcasing exceptional accuracy and line and length. He is the best bowler of the series, having claimed 10 wickets in just three matches. Notably, he has picked up at least two wickets in each of these T20I matches. With South African batters struggling to decipher his variations, Chakravarthy is expected to continue his dominance and take over 1.5 wickets in the 4th T20I.
The hero of the last match for India, Tilak Varma who scored a magnificent hundred, will once again be the batter in focus for this game. He is the leading run-scorer in the series with 160 runs & has two 30 plus scores. Given his recent form, we back the southpaw to come good in the series decider and have an impact with the bat & score over 23.5 runs.

Johannesburg's Wanderers Stadium is known for a pitch that's fast and offers lively bounce. While pace bowlers will get some movement off the surface at the start, batters will likely find it easy to score runs thanks to the consistent pace and bounce. Spinners will need to be very precise with their deliveries, as the pitch won't offer much spin.
The weather in Johannesburg will be nice and pleasant. There is no forecast of rain, and we should get a full match.
The average first innings score at Wanderers is 174. The highest total posted at the venue is West Indies’ 236-6 while chasing a target of 232 against South Africa in 2015. This will likely be another high-scoring contest, and the team batting first will look to get a score of around 200-210 runs.
India has been unfortunate to lose the coin toss in the last three consecutive matches of the series. We predict that luck will favor India in the fourth T20I and they will win the toss.
The series so far has been high-scoring, except for the second match. The first T20I witnessed 21 sixes, while the third T20I saw an astonishing 26 sixes. The batting-friendly conditions at Johannesburg, combined with the high altitude, allow the ball to travel long distances. Given the current form of both teams' batters, we anticipate another six-hitting fest in the series decider.
Last year, both the men’s T20Is played at the Wanderers Stadium were won by the team batting first. This will likely prompt both captains to bat first in this game.
The series is nicely poised as we head over to the final game. Both teams have their issues in batting and bowling, but India look a little more sorted. As the home side, South Africa will definitely have the advantage, but the non-performance of their top and middle order is a cause of concern. If the likes of Klassen and Miller turn up, then South Africa will be favorites for the win. However, if the wicket turns out to be another batter’s paradise, then we reckon India will take the game.
We are backing India as the winners of this match and taking the series 3-1.
