Bet NowRain played spoilsport in the 1st game of the 4-match series between South Africa Women and West Indies Women at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg. West Indies Women would consider themselves unlucky as they were in a winning position when rains halted the game. The South Africans would look to make a strong comeback in this game after most of their players failed to perform.
The problem for West Indies Women has been their consistency in the past. The side has often followed up good performances with a pathetic one. This is something they can least afford to do against a quality side like South Africa. The hosts would learn from their mistakes and not repeat them. We should have a tight contest on our hands.
It was a lucky escape for Sune Luus’s side in the last game. Rains came to the rescue when the side was staring at a big loss. Their batters looked in poor form and the bowlers too failed to deliver on the promise. Luus would want to put that behind and want her players to play their natural game in this contest.
Laura Wolvaardt didn’t score much in the last game and she would aim to set up a good stand with Tazmin Brits here. The middle-order is formidable for the team with Lara Goodall, Marizanne Kapp, and Luus on the side but they failed to convert their starts in the last game and shall look to do it here. In Chloe Tryon and Sinalo Jaffa, they have good hitters of the ball and runs would be expected from them.
Shabnim Ismail did well with the ball in the last game and she would need to strike early in the game with Masabata Klaas. Ayabonga Khaka and Nonkululeko Mlaba bowled poor lines in the last game and they will have to come up with better efforts here. In Tryon and Luus the side has good bowlers for these conditions and they would need to make the best use of it.

Stafanie Taylor would be cursing the weather that denied them an early lead in the 4-match series. They had the South Africans on the mat when rains played spoilsport. There were many positives for the side in the last game and Taylor would want her girls to play with the same positive frame of mind and take a lead by winning this game.
Deandra Dottin made a swashbuckling unbeaten 150 in the last game and this would add to her confidence. She would look to offer a good start opening with Rashada Williams. The middle order is strong with Kycia Knight, Taylor, and Hayley Matthew having lots of experience. The side would also rely on Shemaine Campbell and Chedean Nation to do the big-hitting down the order.
Their bowlers had put the South Africans under pressure in the last game and this would add to their confidence. The side would expect tight bowling and early wickets from Shamilia Connell and Shakera Selman with the new ball. Matthews and Karishma Ramharack got under the skins of the hosts, and they would want to repeat a similar show. Chinelle Henry and Dottin add to the bowling options for the side.

We shall see clear skies over on January 31. The wicket is expected to be flat as was the case in the last game and batters would have a good time on it. Fast bowlers would see swing with the new ball. The side batting first shall have to put more than 250 runs on the board to feel confident.
The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg is a batter’s paradise and we have seen them do exceedingly well here in the past. There is some assistance for the fast bowlers early on during the game. However, spinners have always struggled with the wicket not offering any turn.
The weather conditions are expected to be better in the next game. The wicket looked good to bat on in the previous game and we saw score being put up on the board. Both sides would take a cue from that at the toss and the side winning is likely to opt for batting first in this game.
West Indies Women did well in the last game, but the side has been plagued by inconsistency. Their batters will have to play positively and not be carried away with their performance in the last game. South Africa Women have had an unblemished record at this venue. They have better knowledge of the conditions, and this would make them favorites in this game.
