Southern Brave would be looking for their first win of the season as they take on the Birmingham Phoenix in the 11th game of The Hundred, 2021 at their home ground The Rose Bowl, Southampton. They come into this game after a loss against the Welsh Fire in their previous game. The Phoenix too had a bad day at the office where they went down against the Manchester Originals. 

Southern Brave’s batsmen are in poor form, and this is a problem area for the side. In both the games their middle order has failed, and the side can least afford this in the 100-ball format of the game.  Birmingham Phoenix on the other hand have won a game already and have more depth in their batting and bowling department. James Vince’s side comes here with back-to-back defeats. After a massive loss against the Trent Rockets in the season opener, the side went down against Welsh Fire by 18 runs in the last game. Their batsmen haven’t lived up to the expectations so far and the side would need a good show from them in this game.  

James Vince and Quinton de Kock got starts in the last game, but the side would need them to convert these into big scores. The middle order is looking fragile at the moment, and they would expect runs from Alex Davies, Delray Rawlins and Colin de Grandhomme. The side bats deep and they need big hits in this game from Ross Whiteley, Liam Dawson and Chris Jordan. 

Their bowlers aren’t getting it right and none of them have stood up to the challenge. The side would expect tight spells from Craig Overton and Danny Briggs with the new ball in this game. The likes of Tymal Mills, Chris Jordan and Jake Lintott will have to bowl at good economy for the side to win this game.

Moeen Ali’s side put up a disastrous show in the last game against the Manchester Originals. None of their batsmen could stick to the wicket getting bowled out for 87 runs in the game. The score was never going to be enough and resulted in an 8-wicket defeat for the side. Ali would expect a stronger show from his players in this game. 

Finn Allen and Miles Hammond need to set up a good a good opening stand in the game as they have got out quickly in both the games so far. In the middle order the side has the experienced trio of Liam Livingstone, Daniel Bell-Drummond and Moeen Ali and there would be huge expectations from them. Chris Cooke and Chris Benjamin are powerful hitters of the ball, and this adds to the side’s strengths. 

The side would need tight spells with the new ball from Imran Tahir and Adam Milne who were expensive with the new ball. Moeen Ali was the pick of the bowlers for his side, and he would have to lead from the front. The side would also expect tight spells in this game from Livingstone and Benny Howell as their opponents do have good hitters of the ball.
