Ireland Women sealed the T20I series against Scotland Women after beating them in the second straight match and taking an unassailable 2-0 lead. Just like the first game, Ireland thumped the home side comprehensively in the second match too, and look unbeatable at the moment. The visitors look all set to finish the series 3-0.
Scotland Women have major issues in their batting unit and they need to find some answers fast. For the second straight match, their batting unit failed to deliver. After being asked to bat first again, they could manage to put up only 126-8 on a good wicket. Only Saskia Horley’s 44 off 33 balls managed to give the score some respectability, otherwise, none of the other batters could even manage 20. The lack of runs from captain Sarah Bryce, Ailsa Lister, and Abbi Aitken is really hurting them.
Scotland’s bowling has too has been nothing special. Ireland Women were 44-1 from 5 overs before rain stopped play and they won the match via the DLS method. But none of the Irish batters were troubled by the bowling. Rachel Slater looked decent and also picked up the only wicket to fall. But this unit is unlikely to trouble Ireland in the last match too.

Ireland Women had another complete game and are clearly enjoying these conditions. Their bowlers did another fantastic job by restricting the home side to a low score. They applied continuous pressure and were backed up by their fielders. Leg-spinner Cara Murray was the star for Ireland with her spell of 2-20 from 3 overs. Off-spinner Eimear Richardson (0-13 off 3 overs) and captain Laura Delany (1-16 off 3 overs) also had a good game.
Ireland’s batting didn’t get much chance to shine, but Orla Prendergast again looked in fine touch during her unbeaten stay of 17 off 8 balls. She had also smashed an unbeaten 75 in the 1st T20I. The team would be hoping that Amy Hunter and Delany get some big scores in the last T20I.

The pitch at the Grange Cricket Club has proven to be pretty good. It tends to remain true throughout and offers assistance to the seam bowlers and spinners. The Irish batters have shown that attacking cricket can be played on this pitch.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected in Edinburgh on the day of the match. We are unlikely to get a full game.
In the two matches of the series, the team batting first in this venue scored 133-6 and 126-8 respectively, and lost. This isn’t as tough a wicket as the Scottish batters have made it out to be. Ireland has attacked brilliantly at the start and then consolidated. The team batting first should target a total of around 175 runs.
The team winning the toss will look to bat second as both the matches on this venue in this series have been won by the side chasing.
Ireland Women have been thorough in all departments in this series so far. Their bowling has been smart and accurate while their top and middle-order look really strong. Scotland Women on the other hand have looked completely out of sorts. They would need an incredible batting performance to put pressure on Ireland or the visitors will run away with the last match too.
Ireland Women are favorites for winning the match.
