The fourth round of ODI Championship will begin as Sri Lanka Women will be touring South Africa for three T20Is and three ODIs. The points will be important for hosts South Africa in order to qualify for World Cup 2021. 

Hosts South Africa will be looking to get off to good start when they take on Sri Lanka in the first T20I game at Newlands Cricket Ground on 1st February. In the previous meeting at Women’s World T20 in West Indies, South Africa notched up a comfortable win over the Islanders.

The ICC World Cup 2017 semifinalists South Africa is placed seventh with seven points in nine matches. South Africa managed to draw their T20I and ODI series against West Indies in West Indies and will be keen to win all their games against Sri Lanka at home.

Sri Lanka Women have no chance of qualifying for World Cup 2021 as they have earned only two points from nine matches. They lost the T20I and ODI series to India at home. South Africa Women will be favorites to take the T20I and ODI series.

Hosts have made four changes to their T20I squad as Faye Tunnicliffe, Tazmin Brits, Nadine de Klerk and Lara Godall come in place of Sune Luus, Laura Wolvaardt, Trisha Chetty and Raisibe Ntozakhe.

All-rounder Sune Luus has had a poor run with the ball in the year 2018. She has managed to pick up only three wickets in 18 matches at an average of 42.33. With the bat, Luus has been inconsistent and is averaging 20.92 with the bat.

Tazmin Brits has earned her recall to the national side on the back of good performances at the domestic level. Nadine de Klerk and Lara Godall have come in as a replacement for Chetty and Ntozakhe, who have been ruled out of the series due to injuries.

Opener Lizelle Lee has been consistent performer for the side in the T20 format. She will be keen to produce good scores for the side at the top of the innings. In 2018, Lee scored 436 runs in 20 matches at an average of 22.94. The home side will be hoping that Lee can consistently score in the upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.

Captain Dane van Niekerk has been premier performer for the side in the T20 format. In 2018, he scored 490 runs in 16 matches at an average of 32.66. Niekerk also has picked up crucial wickets for the side in the format.

Experienced Mignon du Preez is a certainly consistent performer in the batting department. Du Preez has scored 1453 runs in 85 matches at an average of 22.01. Du Preez will be keen to do well in this T20 series and need to play huge role in winning all their games in this T20 format. All-rounder Chloe Tyron has chipped in with crucial performances with the bat in the recent games played in the format.

In the bowling department, pace bowler Shabnam Ismail is the leading wicket taker for the side since Jan 2017. She has taken 20 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 17.40. The likes of Marizanne Kapp, Dane van Niekerk and Chloe Tryon also have picked up wickets for the side in the T20 format.
