South Africa Women won the first ODI match by 7 runs after whitewashing the Sri Lankan team 3-0 in the T20I series. South Africa team is piling on the victories against the visiting Sri Lankan team. Captain Dane Van Niekerk was the star performer for the team in first ODI. She scored a century and also captured 2 wickets bowling economically in her quota of 10 over’s. She was well supported by the opener Andrie Steyn and their partnership helped their team to post a winning total. Sri Lanka team has lost yet their match against South Africa in this series but they came very close to winning in the first ODI. Prasadini Werakkody and Shashikala Siriwardene played well but missed out on their respective half centuries by a whisker. They must have stayed in the crease for a longer period to see their team home in the chase. Nilakshi de Silva put up a spirited fight with the last wicket by fell short off the target.
