It is the 1st game in the Asia Cup Qualifier 2022 and Singapore would be up against Hong Kong. Both sides would be eager to make a positive start in this game. Singapore had a poor tournament in Zimbabwe where they lost all their games. Hong Kong comes into this game with a mixed bag of results.  

Singapore has won only twice in the last eight games the side has played and they have been down on their form. Their batting has looked weak in recent months, and this would be worrying the side. Hong Kong has shown better form and they have a strong bowling attack. It remains to be seen if Singapore can break out of its poor form in this game.

Amjad Mahboo would look to break out of the string of poor performances that his side has come up with in recent games. They had recently lost against Hong Kong and Mahboo would be aware of his opponent’s strengths. It is a big stage, and the Singaporean skipper shall want to see his players come up with a spirited show in the game.  

Surendran Chandramohan and Aman Desai must set up a good opening wicket stand at the top as they have been in poor form in recent games. Rezza Gaznavi, Aryaman Sunil, and Navin Param have important roles to play in the middle order for the side to be in a comfortable position. Manpreet Singh is a good strike player down the order, and he needs to add runs with Janak Prakash in this contest.  

Amjad Mahboo has been bowling well and the side would like to see him lead from the front and do well along with Neil Karnik. Manpreet Singh and Sahil shall have to bowl good spells in the middle overs as they have leaked runs in recent games. Anantha Krishna, Vinoth Baskaran, and Janak Prakash would have to support the main bowlers well in this game.

Nizakat Khan would like to make a good start to this tournament. They have done well in the lead-up to this tournament, but this will be a tall ask for them on a big stage. They had defeated Singapore last month and the side would look to borrow inspiration from that win. Khan would look for a win before they take on tougher opponents.  

On the batting front, Nizakat Khan and Aizaz Khan shall need to set up a good opening wicket stand in the game. Babar Hayat is the key player for the side, and he would look to build partnerships with Kinchit Shah and Yasim Murtaza in the middle order. They would like to see runs from the bats of Zeeshan Ali and Scott McKechnie down the order.   

Aizaz Khan and Ehsan Khan have important roles to play with the new ball as the wicket would be flat and they shall have no room for error. Haroon Arshad has shown great form in recent games, and he will need to strike in the middle overs with Ayush Shukla and Ghazanfar Mohammad. Yasim Murtaza needs to do well in the supporting act.
