Cricket is slowly but steadily coming back to the field from the deadly pandemic. With no bigger leagues and international cricket available, fans are tuning into the smaller leagues to keep themselves entertained with cricketing action. And the entire cricketing fraternity is having a closer look at these lesser famous leagues so as create effective ways to bring cricket back without any disturbances. KK Stadin ja Keravan KriKetti (KKS) will take on the GYM Helinski Gymkhana (GHG) team in their opening match to kick-off their tournament.
KK Stadin team batting unit has quality players in form of Nathan Collins, Atif Rasheed, Mirza Zeeshan Baig, and Peter Gallagher. All these four players featured in the top-10 run-getters last season and were instrumental in their team`s success. Nathan Collins (151 runs) and Peter Gallagher (83 runs) are the top run-scorers for the Finland team last year in T20I matches.
Bowling was their biggest worry last season with only Waqas Raja finding a place in the top-15 wicket-takers. Nirav Shah, Yathunathan Vijayarathnam, and Karl FitzPatrick must step up their performances this season to help their team go a notch higher to clinch the trophy.
Nathan Collins – Nathan Collins is the first and only Finland player to score fifty for his team in T20Is. He has 151 runs at a strike rate of 92 with two fifties to his name in the international arena.
Waqas Raja – Waqas Raja is one of the young & upcoming players in the Finland team and he recently made his T20I debut. He will look to prove his credentials in this league to get a permanent place in the XI of the Finland team.
Nathan Collins, Atif Rasheed, Mirza Zeeshan Baig, Peter Gallagher, Nirav Shah, Yathunathan Vijayarathnam, Karl FitzPatrick, Waqas Raja, Jake Goodwin, Gerard Brady, Qaiser Siddique
GYM Helinski team will look to prove themselves this season by qualifying for the knockouts this year after ending up 6th last year. Brar Simranjet, Abdul Rehaman, Faisal Shahzad, and Pankaj Saharan form the core of the batting department and will need to score more consistently to help their team win more matches.
Their bowling unit is made of Abdul Altif, Pankaj Saharan, Faisal Shahzad, and Atti Ur Rehman. They have a fairly inexperienced bowling attack and they need to bring their experiences from last season effectively this year.
Faisal Shahzad– Skipper Faisal Shahzad has a big role to play as batsmen at the top of the order. He needs to set the tone with good start opening the batting. He can also give you some quiet overs in the middle over.
Abdul Rehman – Abdul Rehman was the most valuable player for the team in the last year and he needs to continue his all-round performance with the bat and ball. He adds a great balance to both departments of the team.
Brar Simranjet, Abdul Rehaman, Faisal Shahzad, Pankaj Saharan, Abdul Altif, Atti Ur Rahman, Shahid Irshad, Noufal Khalid, Irfan Yousafai, Hussain Muhammed, Qais Yousakai
Kerava is expected to have the temperature in the range of 15 to 20 degrees Celsius. No rain is forecasted on the match day and we will get a full quota of 40 overs easily.
Kerava Stadium was on the slower side last night and the players struggled to time the ball easily. Bowlers will look to use their variations such as cutters and slower-ones to great use in this pitch. We can expect average scores in the range of 140-160 runs.
Chasing is the best option as the pitch is untested and no score is safe nowadays due to bigger bats and smaller outfields.
Both teams will have a fresh start to the season this year. KKS team seems to have better-experienced players when compared to the GHS team in the batting department especially. GYM Helinski team has a lot of all-rounders which will bring balance to their playing XI but they lack bowlers with X-factor. We expect KK Stadin ja Keravan team to win this match.
