The 11th game of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier is set to undergo at Old Hararians Ground on 27th November at 09:30 am local time. WI women are currently leading Group A with 2 points. SL Women also have 2 points from one game and are placed in second place based on NRR.
SL Women kickstarted their World Cup Qualifier campaign on a winning note. In a rain-affected game, SL Women beat Netherlands Women by 34 runs. Batting first, SL Women’s team opener Chamari Athapaththu hit a century. A hefty contribution from the middle-order helped SL Women set a target of 279 runs to Netherlands Women. Netherlands Women were 196 for 6 in 44th over when rain interrupted the game. SL Women were declared winners based on the DL method.

A stifling batting performance from Deandra Dottin and carefully crafted bowling from Anisa Mohammad & Hayley Matthews awarded WI Women a 6 wicket victory against Ireland Women. Mohammed’s spell of 40 runs for 3 wickets restricted Ireland Women for 159 runs. Chasing the target of 160 runs, Dottin scored 73 runs to win the one-sided contest against Ireland Women.

Both teams have played four times against each other at the World Cup stage. Out of four games, WI Women have registered three victories against SL Women. The last time when both teams met, WI women defended the target of 230 runs and bowled out SL Women for 182.

A win is important for both the teams, as it will almost fix their place in the super-stage. The current form of WI Women will make it tougher for SL Women who are in search of their place in the Women’s World Cup for the seventh time.
