Somerset would start their campaign at home as they take on Nottinghamshire in a Group-A contest in the Royal London One-Day Cup, 2022. Somerset is without key players as most of them would be playing The Hundred. Nottinghamshire has made a good start to the tournament defeating Sussex in their first game and the side would be confident coming into this game.
Somerset is fielding young players and they would be under pressure to deliver. They lack depth in their bowling attack which would be a big challenge on one of the best batting surfaces in England. Nottinghamshire has already won a game and they would look to drive the momentum forward. Somerset plays at home, and it will be interesting to see if they can take advantage of the conditions.
Ben Green’s side shall have to manage with depleted resources in this contest. Most of their key players would be playing The Hundred and the young players would have to fill in giant shoes. They would face a side that has looked in good form and Green would like his players to put their best foot forward as they look to start the tournament with a win.
Steven Davies and Matthew Renshaw shall have to deliver a good start as their opponents have a good new ball pair. The middle order is inexperienced, and the side would need runs from the bats of Andrew Umeed, James Hildreth, and George Bartlett in this contest. James Rew and Ben Green must do the heavy lifting and take the side to a big total given the challenge they are up against.
Jack Harding and Kasey Aldridge shall need to make good use of the new ball in this contest as Nottinghamshire have good hitters of the ball. Green is an experienced bowler, and he needs to restrict the scoring rate with Max Waller and Jack Leach. They lack depth in their bowling attack and the main bowlers must be on the top of their game for the side to win this contest.

Haseeb Hameed led his side well in the first game of the season as they defeated Sussex by 65 runs. The middle and lower middle order came to the party and took the side to a good total. Their efforts with the ball were excellent and this would make the team confident. Hameed would like his top order to click as this was the only problem area for the team in the last game.
Soloman Budinger and Ben Slater fell cheaply in the last game and the duo would look to set up a big opening wicket stand here. Matthew Montgomery played a brilliant knock against Sussex, and he will have to add runs in the middle order with Hameed and Lyndon James. The side has depth in the batting line-up with Dane Schadendorf, Liam Patterson-White, and Brett Hutton having made runs in the last game.
It was a great bowling performance from the side in the last game. Brett Hutton and Zak Chappell bowled exceedingly well in the last game with the new ball, and they would look to do the same here. Dane Paterson, Liam Patterson-White, and Fateh Singh also did well which adds to the side’s confidence as they play on their opponent’s home ground.

Taunton would see clear skies on August 4, and we expect to see a good game where lots of runs are likely to be scored. The surface is flat, and the ball comes onto the bat nicely allowing easy stroke play. The side batting first in this game would need 320 runs on the board to feel safe.
The Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton is the best venue for batsmen in England. It is one of the smallest grounds in the world and allows batsmen to hit the ball in the air carefree. Fast bowlers do get some assistance from the surface, but spinners don’t have much from this track and the smaller boundaries make life difficult for them.
Big scores have been made and chased at this venue. It has a great batting surface and we have seen batsmen do well here in the past. The side that wins the toss in this game shall look to take advantage of the conditions. Batting first and putting up a big total on the board is the way to go.
Somerset is without key players, and this is a massive setback for them. The side lacks bowling resources and this poses a challenge on a track that has been known for big scores in the past. Nottinghamshire comes into the game with a win. They displayed depth in their batting line-up in the last game and have momentum. This would make them favourites to win this contest.
