Sunrisers’ quest for rare win versus Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians to win
Tournament: Indian Premier League 2021 | Format: T20 | Venue: Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, India | Toss: To Bowl
Bet NowThe race to be in the top half of the points table is on in the Indian Premier League 2021 and as the defending champions Mumbai Indians face the Sunrisers Hyderabad, they would have a victory in their mind. Mumbai won a thriller against Chennai Super Kings in the last game and they would be expecting a better show here. Sunrisers suffered yet another win as they went down against the Rajasthan Royals.
Sunrisers Hyderabad have had few things going for them and so far won only one game. The change of leadership midway speaks volumes about the mood in the camp and it would be an uphill challenge for them to win in this game. It will be interesting to see if they are able to turn the tide considering the kind of form we have seen from the Mumbai Indians in the last two games.
It has been a miserable campaign so far for the Sunrisers and changing their captain midway through the tournament isn’t surely reassuring. Kane Williamson who has been appointed as the skipper led his side to a 55-run loss in the last game against the Rajasthan Royals. The side has to win it by a big margin here to keep their hopes alive and Williamson would want to see no-nonsense approach from his team.
Manish Pandey and Jonny Bairstow need to get the side off to a good start in this game and the side would need them to score at better pace. In the middle order Williamson has done well but Vijay Shankar and Kedar Yadav have failed and will have to play important roles. Runs would also be expected from Mohammad Nabi and Abdul Samad down the order given the problems they have at the top.
Their bowling attack was torn apart in the last game and the side would need a better show from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Sandeep Sharma. Rashid Khan has been able to do the containing act but the side would need wickets from him in this game. Shankar and Khaleel Ahmed have been expensive and they will need to bowl tighter lines given the strength Mumbai has in its batting.
Top Batsman – Jonny Bairstow
Top Bowler – Rashid Khan
Kane Williamson (c), Jonny Bairstow (wk), Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, Vijay Shankar, Mohammad Nabi, Abdul Samad, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed
Mumbai Indians’ campaign is back on track and skipper Rohit Sharma would be relieved with back to back wins. It was a great run chase from the side in the last game against the Chennai Super Kings where they ended up winning off the last ball. Having won against the Sunrisers earlier Rohit would want a similar effort from his players and win this game.
Quinton de Kock has hit form in welcome news for the side and he would look to provide a good start here. Suryakumar Yadav has to play well as this season hasn’t gone well so far for him. In Krunal Pandya and Kieron Pollard the side has two players in great form at the moment. Hardik Pandya and James Neesham with their hitting abilities add strength to this batting order.
Trent Boult and Dhawal Kulkarni were expensive in the last game and better show would be expected from them here. Jasprit Bumrah too had a bad day at the office and tighter lines would be expected from him in this game. Rahul Chahar is bowling smartly and the side would be expecting good show from Pollard, Krunal Pandya and Neesham who have to fill in the role of a 5th bowler.
Top Batsman – Rohit Sharma
Top Bowler – Jasprit Bumrah
Rohit Sharma (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, James Neesham, Rahul Chahar, Dhawal Kulkarni, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult
The skies would be clear over Delhi would have slight cloud cover on May 04 and we expect the conditions to be hot. The track would be a good one to bat on where batsmen would be able to play their strokes easily. Setting a target here is bit of a challenge and the side batting first would like to have more than 180 runs on the board.
Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhiis one of the best venues for T20 cricket in India and we have seen high scoring games here in the past. Batsmen can play here without much of fear as the ball comes on to the bat nicely. Fast bowlers have to bring out their variations to do well here and the spinners enjoy good support from the wicket.
In the last four games at this venue the side chasing the score has gone on to win three games. We have seen big scores being put up here and this makes it a good surface to chase. The side that wins the toss in this game would opt to bowl first and try and dismiss the opponent for a small total.
Sunrisers Hyderabad has its last chance of keeping its hopes alive for the rest of the season. The team is in complete disarray at the moment where they are failing with the bat and the ball and lack confidence to win. Mumbai Indians come into this contest with two convincing victories and have momentum on their side and this would make them confident here.
