The Indian Premier League 2022 has entered its most crucial phase and we will have the Royal Challengers Bangalore taking on the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 54th game of the season. RCB did well in the last game to defeat Chennai Super Kings and keep hopes alive for a berth in the playoffs while SRH come here with a loss against the Delhi Capitals.
In the last five games between the two teams, the Sunrisers Hyderabad have won four of them. They had defeated RCB by 9 wickets earlier in the season and this would be a major confidence booster for the team. RCB ticked all boxes in the last game and it will be interesting to see if they can repeat the same magic.
Kane Williamson would be a worried man after suffering the third consecutive defeat at the most crucial phase of the tournament. The side went down by 21 runs against the Delhi Capitals in what was one of the worst bowling performances by the side this season. A win would help them get close to the playoffs and having defeated RCB earlier Williamson would count his chances.
Abhishek Sharma and Williamson missed out in the last game against the Delhi Capitals and they will need to do well. In the middle order, the side has done well and they will expect to see runs from Nicholas Pooran, Aiden Markram, and Rahul Tripathi scoring runs in previous games. Shashank Singh and Sean Abbott must do well as Washington Sundar’s injury is a big blow to the side.
Their bowling attack took a massive hit in the last game and the side would expect good spells from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Sean Abbott with the new ball. Umran Malik would need to do more than break speed records. Karthik Tyagi, Shreyas Gopal, and Markram would have to come up with good performances as T Natrajan and Washington Sundar are out of action.

It was a good comeback for Faf du Plessis’ side after three consecutive losses. They batted well and bowled good spells in the key moments of the game against the Chennai Super Kings to win it by 13 runs. They are now fourth on the points table and shall aim to move up with a win in this game. They had suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Sunrisers earlier and du Plessis would look to even it out.
The opening pair of Virat Kohli and du Plessis are in good form and the side would expect a steady start from them against the Sunrisers. The side would need a good show from Glenn Maxwell in the middle order after his poor run so far. He must add runs with Rajat Patidar and Mahipal Lomror. In Dinesh Karthik and Wanindu Hasaranga, the side has good finishers.
Josh Hazlewood bowled well in the last game and the side would need more of that here as he opens the bowling with Shahbaz Ahmed. Siraj Ahmed and Hasaranga had a poor outing against CSK and being the best bowlers in the team they have to deliver the goods here. Glenn Maxwell and Harshal Patel did well in the last game and the same would be expected from them against the strong batting line-up that Sunrisers have.

We expect to see a hot and humid afternoon in Mumbai on May 08. The wicket is expected to be placid as we have seen in most games and there is the likelihood of another high-scoring contest as batsmen can play their strokes easily. It will be a tough venue for the bowlers and the side that bats first would aim for a total near the 200-run mark.
Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai has a batting-friendly wicket and the lightning-fast outfield makes it easy for the batsmen. They can play their strokes on the rise at this venue. There would be very little assistance for the fast bowlers apart from a few odd overs with the new ball. Spinners have enjoyed a good record here.
It has been a great venue to chase scores and only once has the side won the game batting first in the last four games. The good batting surface makes it difficult to set scores here. Hence the side winning the toss would have very little hesitation in opting to bowl in this game.
It will be a crucial game for both sides. The Royal Challengers Bangalore would need their middle order to do well as this has been an area of concern for them. They don’t have a great record against the Sunrisers and shall have to get over that. The Sunrisers have a strong batting line-up and this is expected to put them slightly ahead of Bangalore.
