Sylhet Sixers are going through a difficult phase so far in this year’s competition. The side is currently lingering at the bottom half of table with 2 points from three games played. On the other hand, Comilla Victorians suffered a defeat at the hands of Chittagong Vikings in a game played on Sunday.

There will be added pressures on Captain David Warner to produce better results, who himself will be keen to redeem his cricketing career with Bangladesh Premier League. In their previous game, Sixers were completely outplayed by Dhaka Dynamites.

Come Tuesday, Sylhet will be hoping to turn their fortunes around when they take on Comilla Victorians in the 16th game of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet.

In their previous meeting between the two teams, Comilla Victorians beat Sylhet Sixers by 4 wickets in game played in Dhaka.

Comilla Victorians captain Imrul Kayes will be hoping that the side can get to back to winning ways in the competition

Sylhet Sixers Preview

Sixers will certainly need to bring their A-game to the table if they aim to beat Comilla Victorians in this game.

Captain David Warner will need to raise his game with the bat as he has only scored 80 runs from three matches at an average of 26.66.

In the batting department, the home side will be relying on their in-form Nicholas Pooran to do the bulk of the scoring. Pooran has topped the batting charts for Sylhet so far this season with 165 runs from 3 matches with two half-centuries to his name.

The side will be concerned about Liton Das, who has produced a string of low scores so far in the competition. Wicket-keeper batsman will need to contribute with the bat for Sylhet and get them off to decent starts.

The top three of David Warner, Liton Das and Afif Hossain are expected to provide a decent platform for the rest to capitalize in the later stages in the innings.

In the bowling department, pacer Taskin Ahmed has done exceedingly so far in the competition with 7 wickets in three games. The likes of Sohail Tanvir, Al-Amin Hossain and Sandeep Lamichhane have produced tidy spells in the previous game against Dhaka Dynamites.

Sylhet Sixers Predicted Playing XI:

David Warner (c), Liton Das (wk), Afif Hossain, Nicholas Pooran, Sabbir Rahman, Nasir Hossain, Alok Kapali, Sohail Tanvir, Sandeep Lamichhane, Al-Amin Hossain, Taskin Ahmed.

Sylhet Sixers Actual Playing XI:

Comilla Victorians Preview

The side has got off to a decent start with two wins out of four games played in the competition

Opener Tamim Iqbal once again perished for a duck against Chittagong Kings. Captain Imrul Kayes scored 24 off 21 balls with the help of three fours and a six

Opener Evin Lewis played well in the previous game and scored 38 off 34 balls with the help of six boundaries. Lewis was looking in good form before he suffered a hamstring injury and was forced to retire from the innings.

All-rounder Thisara Perera’s produced a blistering performance with the bat. He scored 74 off 26 balls with the help of three fours and eight sixes to see Comilla post a competitive score on the board. The top three of Imrul Kayes, Evin Lewis and Tamim Iqbal are expected to provide a good start for the likes of Shahid Afridi and Thisara Perera to score quick runs in the last stages of the innings.

The biggest disappointment has been the form of Iqbal, who has scored 60 runs in 4 matches at an average of 15.00. Comilla will be hoping that he can deliver big runs in this game.

In the bowling department, Shahid Afridi, Liam Dawson and Mohammad Saifuddin have bowled so far this season. Shahid Afridi and Mahedi Hasan bowled well in the high-scoring game against Chittagong Vikings. Liam Dawson and Mohammad Saifuddin were expensive and leaked a lot of runs in the game against Chittagong.

Comilla Victorians Predicted Playing XI:

Imrul Kayes (c), Tamim Iqbal, Anamul Haque (wk), Evin Lewis, Shoaib Malik/Thisara Perera, Mohammad Saifuddin, Shahid Afridi, Mahedi Hasan, Abu Hider Rony, Mohammad Shahid, Liam Dawson.

Comilla Victorians Actual Playing XI:

Thisara Perera, Shamsur Rahman, Imrul Kayes, Liam Dawson, Mahedi Hasan, Mohammad Saifuddin, SMSK Afridi, Ziaur Rahman, Tamim Iqbal, Wahab Riaz, Anamul Haque

Weather Conditions

The pitch prepared at Sylhet is expected to be good for batsmen. The new surface might have something on offer for the pace bowlers. The weather forecast for Tuesday game is clear skies and sunshine.

The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium has hosted a lot of Bangladesh Premier League games in the past. The average score at the venue is around 140 runs.

Toss: To Bowl

The side that wins the toss would like bowl first in this game. The side batting second has won more games in the past.

Comilla Victorians are certainly the better side at the moment. Host Sylhet Sixers will certainly need to produce their best game possible as they are playing at home. The likes of David Warner and Liton Das will need to produce something special if Sixers aim to get back to winning ways in the competition.
