Bet NowBoth Sydney Sixers and Adelaide Strikers are in a similar situation in the ongoing Big Bash League. They have both won one match and lost one and are currently placed at the 3rd and 4th position respectively. The Sixers will now be taking on the Strikers this Sunday and it will be interesting to see which team takes the lead. Sydney has just earned a massive win so their confidence will be really high. The Strikers are also coming off a solid win. Hence, we are in for a cracker of a contest.
Sydney Sixers started the season with a 16-run loss against Hobart Hurricanes. However, they came back strongly in the next game to register an incredible 145-run win versus the Melbourne Renegades. It was a near-perfect match for the Sixers where they first a mammoth 205-4 on the board and then shot out the opposition for just 60 runs. They would be looking to carry that performance forward now in this match.
Opener Josh Philippe, whose scintillating 57-ball 95, set the innings for the Sixers in the last match, would again be expected to deliver the goods. Captain Daniel Hughes, Jack Edwards, and Jordan Silk are the other batsmen to watch out for as they have been in good touch. Silk’s cameo (45 off 19 balls) down the order was particularly exciting.
On the bowling front, Steve OKeefe and Ben Dwarshuis, who took 7 wickets between in the last match, looked the best of the lot. Ben Manenti has also been in good flow but Carlos Brathwaite would have to ensure that he doesn’t leak too many runs.

The Adelaide Strikers too began their campaign with a loss – against the Hobart Hurricanes by 11 runs. But they came back strongly in the next game against the same opposition and clinched a 5-wicket win.
That victory was earned through a solid bowling performance where the Strikers restricted the Hurricanes for just 146 runs courtesy of a sensational spell of 5-16 by captain Peter Siddle. The experienced seamer is the backbone of the bowling attack and will be a vital cog for them throughout the tournament. The other factor in their lineup is leg-spinner Rashid Khan whose 4 overs could easily change the game. Wes Agar has been among the wickets too and his contribution could be valuable.
Adelaide’s batting is pretty decent but they are dependent on the likes of captain Alex Carey and Jake Weatherald. They would expect some good contributions from Philip Salt, Matt Renshaw, and Jonathan Wells. However, their batting does look a tad fragile and can be exploited by a good bowling attack.

The pitch at the Bellerive Oval at Hobart is expected to be a good one for batting. In the matches so far this season, we have seen the ball coming on nicely to the bat and teams piling on some tall scores. Slower bowlers will get some help in the second half but batsmen
Some showers are expected on the day of the match and that could hamper proceedings. However, we should still get a full game.
In the last match at the Bellerive Oval this season, we saw the team batting first post a total of 205-4. There have also been two more totals of 170-plus on the venue this season. Thus, the team batting first in this game would be targeting a total of around 180 to feel safe.
The team winning the toss is likely to bat first as setting a target on this venue has paid rich dividends so far and that is likely to continue.
In the last 5 matches between Sydney Sixers and Adelaide Strikers, the Sixers have won 4 back-to-back games. That certainly will give them the advantage in this match. While both the teams are in a similar situation right now, the Sixers are slightly ahead. Their batting is much stronger and they must be glowing in confidence from the last win. The Strikers, meanwhile, have a good bowling unit but lack the spark in batting. Hence, the Sixers are slightly ahead in this clash.
The Sydney Sixers are the expected winners of this contest.
