The 31st game of 2019 Bangladesh Premier Leagues will witness the second clash between Sylhet Sixers and Khulna Titans.

Both the teams have had an awful season so far and almost lost their chances of qualifying for the playoff stage. But none of the side would like to lose this one and end up finishing at the bottom of the table. They are well-matched in terms of the form they have shown so far and this would make the contest interesting. 

Khulna Titans had surprised the Sylhet Sixers in the last game and won it by a small margin. It would be interesting to see if result remains the same after the next game or Sixers who have a slightly stronger batting line-up are able to avenge that loss.

After losing three games on a trot Sylhet Sixers bounced back to win their last game against Rajshahi Kings. The team would have been pleased with its performance where they dominated the game all throughout. 

The batsmen have been delivering over the course of last few games and they continued with their fine form in the last game with Liton Das, Jason Roy and Afif Hossain playing important knocks to push up the scoring. With Sabbir Rahman also in good form and important contributions coming from the lower order, skipper Alok Kapali would head into the next game with confidence.  

After struggling with their bowling for the past few games the bowlers delivered against Rajshahi Kings. They didn’t allow their opponents to get off the hook as Sohail Tanvir used all his experience to set up the win. Taskin Ahmed whose form was being questioned also did well with the ball while Mohammad Nawaz broke the back of their opponents. The team management would be look forward to similar show of strength from the bowlers in the next game.

Khulna Titans Preview

The side would still be cherishing its last win against Sylhet Sixers in the last game. Khulna Titans haven’t tasted too much of success this season winning only two games to be precise. Playing Sixers in the next game they team would be a confident lot when they take the field. 

Brendan Taylor and Junaid Siddique set up a memorable win for the Titans in the last game with that great partnership. While Al-Amin, Nazmul Hossain Shanto and skipper Mahmudllah didn't make much of a contribution David Wiesse towards the end played a great cameo. They have a decent batting line-up which will be looking forward to performing in the next game. 

The bowlers did a great job in the last game especially Junaid Khan who bowled extremely well with the new ball and was difficult to pick for the batsmen. David Wiese and Yasir Shah bowled economically and this would give the side great confidence going into the next game. It would be interesting to see how they bowl against an upbeat Sylhet side.

Weather Conditions

It is going to be a hot and humid afternoon at Chittagong on January 26. As far as the pitch is concerned it would be little on the lower side with two games already having been played on the surface. Batsmen would need to get their eyes in before playing those big shots as there is expected to be some juice for the fast bowlers to exploit.

Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram is known to be a happy hunting ground for the bowlers. Batsmen who are willing to play the long innings and choosing their shots also tend to perform well here. It isn’t a typical slam bang kind of a ground as there is plenty for the fast bowlers to use the conditions to their advantage.
