The 13th game of the  Caribbean Premier League 2020 would see the two sides that have looked in great form battle it out in the middle. St Lucia Zouks with their three wins in a row have moved to the second spot on the points table and shall be looking for their fourth win. The Trinbago Knight Riders on the other hand have enjoyed great success so far winning all their three games and shall aim to solidify their position further in the tournament with a win in this game.    

St Lucia Zouks have an extremely poor record against the Trinbago Knight Riders. They haven’t won a game against Riders in the last three seasons and this is likely to create some mental pressure on the team. The Knight Riders have been in very good form for now and they will look to continue with their winning run. With both the sides coming into this game with wins under their belt this is expected to be well-fought contest.

St Lucia Zouks Preview

Darren Sammy’s has made the news headlines so far in the tournament. They had come into the tournament as underdogs but three back to back wins have boosted the confidence in the side. The side comes here after a 10 run win against the Guyana Amazon Warriors. Sammy would look to win this game and break the seven-match losing spree against the Knight Riders. 

Openers Andre Fletcher and Kimani Melius did poorly in the last game and this is the area where the side will need to make improvement. They haven’t got good starts yet in the season. Mark Deyal and Roston Chase have been in good form and solidify the middle order. The big hitting trio of Mohammad Nabi, Najibullah Zardan and Sammy add good strength to this batting line-up down the order. 

Their bowling attack has done well in the last couple of games with the new ball pair of Scott Kuggelejin and Nabi troubling the opposition. Sammy would need them to come up with a good show. Roston Chase, Chemar Holder and Kesrick Williams are playing complementary roles in the middle overs and this game would be the biggest test they have faced in the tournament so far.

Trinbago Knight Riders Preview

Kieron Pollard wouldn’t have anything to complain about as his side has been playing clinically so far in the tournament. They have won all their three games convincingly and haven’t been pushed to the corner as yet. Pollard will like his side to continue with the good record they have against the Zouks and further improve their position on the points table.  

The opening pair of Lendl Simmons and Sunil Narine brings great hitting abilities to the table and the side would be looking for a good start from them in the game. Colin Munro has impressed with his form and shall look to control the pace of the innings with Darren Bravo. Pollard, Dwayne Bravo and Tim Seifert with their hitting abilities make this a very tough batting line-up to bowl against. 

Ali Khan and Khary Pierre have done well so far and they will be targeting early wickets with the new ball in this game. Narine and Fawad Ahmed have bowled with good economy rates making best use of their experience so far. The side will look for tighter lines from Dwayne Bravo and Jayden Seales who have gone for few runs so far in the season.

Weather Conditions

There would be odd clouds over the skies of Trinidad on August 26 but it isn’t likely to affect the game at all. The track is expected to have something in for the bowlers in the early overs but by and large batsmen would be able to hit the ball on the up here. Any score of 165 or above will put the side batting first in a position of advantage.

Venue Details

The track at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad lets batsmen commit themselves on the front foot and play their strokes. The small size of the ground serves as an advantage for them. There is something for the fast bowlers in the early overs with the new ball but over the last few seasons we have seen the spinners do well at this venue.   

Toss: To Bowl

Most teams have preferred to bowl so far after winning the toss and this isn’t surprising given the number of low scoring games we have seen so far. This will be a relatively new track and team that wins the toss is likely to put their opponents into bat and aim for early breakthroughs.
