The 6th game of the CSA T20 Challenge 2019 to be played at Willowmoore Park, Benoni is expected to be a close one. Pre-tournament favorites Titans who lost out their opening game against the Warriors would be taking on visitors Cape Cobras, who have started with a win in the season. Even in their loss the Titans played well and would consider themselves being unlucky to have lost the game under the DLS method.

The Cape Cobras haven’t had the best of record against the Titans in the recent years and would be looking to get that straight in the upcoming game. It is expected to be a well fought game with both the side being pretty strong.

Titans Preview

Farhaan Behardien would consider his side to be unlucky to have lost the game even after putting 216 runs on the board. They were done in by rain interruption and would like to put behind last game’s results. With a strong team at his disposal Behardien would go into the next game confidently.

Henry Davids and Tony de Zorzi did well opening the batting but it was the performance of Theunis de Bruyn, Diego Rosier and Grant Thomson in the middle order that sealed the game for the side. With finishers like Farhaan Behardien and Rubin Hermann the batting looks very strong for the side going into this game

Bowlers had an ordinary day in the last game but Junior Dala and Henry Davids make up a good new ball pair and would be looking to do well in the next game. Eldred Hawken and Tshepo Moreki have also been in good rhythm in the recent weeks and would start confidently in the next match.

Titans Predicted Playing XI:

Henry Davids, Farhaan Behardien (c), Theunis de Bruyn, Diego Rosier, Shaun von Berg, Junior Dala, Tshepo Moreki, Grant Thomson, Eldred Hawken, Tony de Zorzi, Rubin Hermann (wk)

Titans Actual Playing XI:

Shaun von Berg, DS Rosier, Henry Davids, Tony de Zorzi, Theunis de Bruyn, Junior Dala, Rubin Hermann, Gregory Mahlokwana, Farhaan Behardien, GM Thomson, Eldred Hawken

Cape Cobras Preview

Rory Kleinveldt would be happy after the show his men put up against the Lions in their opening game. They snatched a win from the jaws of defeat after having nearly conceded the last game. Confident with its victory the side would like to start as favorites in the next game against Titans.

Hashim Amla, David Bedingham and Kyle Verreynne batted well in the last game but they would be looking to convert their starts into big scores. Janneman Malan who missed out in the last game would be look to perform against the Titans. The team has good finishers in Vernon Philander and Aviwe Mgijima and they are likely to test the Titans bowling attack in the next game.

Dane Paterson bowled extremely well in the last and looks in good shape. Rory Kleinveldt and Vernon Philander were more expensive than what they would have liked and would be eager to improve their bowling in the next game. With George Linde and Tladi Bokako in the side they are expected to do well with the ball.

Cape Cobras Predicted Playing XI:

Hashim Amla, Janneman Malan, David Bedingham, Kyle Verreynne (wk), Simon Khomari, Aviwe Mgijima, George Linde, Vernon Philander, Rory Kleinveldt (c), Dane Paterson, Tladi Bokako

Weather Conditions

There is prediction for thunder and rain at Benoni on the 10th of April. It has been a long rainy season and the pitch wouldn’t be an easy one to bat on. A side putting up a total of 160 runs batting first on this pitch would be a good one to fight with considering the fact that the pitch is expected to get slower as the game progresses.

Venue

It is a ground cut out for T20 games. The smaller size of the Willowmoore Park, Benoni makes it a great ground for batsmen who like to hit over the top. The bowlers also get a bit of assistance from the pitch early on but it is purely a great surface to bat on where the ball comes onto the bat easily

Toss: To Bowl

There are predictions for rain during the game and this would mean that the side that chases the score would be able to use the run rate to its advantage. The sipper winning the toss would like to make use of the early juice and restrict the opposition to a small total that can be chased easily.

Titans haven’t started the season the way they would have wanted to. But the team would be proud of the batting performance they put up in the last game. Cape Cobras on the other hand defeated the Lions to earn their two points in the last game. It is expected to be a close contest between the two sides, but Titans would start slightly ahead banking on a better batting line-up as compared to Cape Cobras.
