Titans playing at their home ground Willowmoore Park, Benoni are sitting at the top of the table while the Lions are struggling at the bottom and have managed to win just one game this season. Lions have been involved in some close games where the results haven’t gone in their favor. 

Interestingly the only win for the Lions in this season came against Titans and they would like to take heart from this fact and go into the game with confidence. Titans on the other hand would look to avenge that loss in the next game.

It was a clinical win for Heinrich Klaasen’s side in the last game against Dolphins which made it five in a row for the side. The have looked the side to beat this season and have already earned a place in the semi-finals and would look to carry on with the same momentum. 

Jonathan Vandiar and Heino Kuhn played well in the last game with Kuhn scoring a good hundred. Dean Elgar, Heinrich Klaasen and Farhaan Behardien have also contributed with the bat. They surely have the best batting-line up in the season and this has been driving them to one win after another. If these players perform well the Lions bowlers would be looking at a tough task in the next game. 

Chris Morris’ absence would be felt in the bowling but Junior Dala has been superb with the ball this season picking a 5-wicket haul in the last game. Dean Elgar also bowled well to pick up his four wickets. Gregory Mahlokwana is also keeping it tight from this end and this makes them a good bowling line-up to play against.

Lions Preview

One win in eight games summarizes the form the side is in at the moment. There have been several close games that could have done their way but it wasn’t to be. Having defeated the Titans earlier in the season they would be confident going into this game.  

Kagiso Rapulana and Ryan Rickelton haven’t been able to offer good starts to the side and the team would be pinning its hopes on them. Dominic Hendricks has looked in good touch and Nicky van den Bergh too has been doing well. But it is high time the skipper Temba Bavuma does well with the bat as his form has been one of the reasons behind their failures. 

The bowling attack looks relatively good Aaron Phangiso and Bjorn Fortuin have been doing well for the side. What would worry them is the form of Delano Potgieter and Nandre Burger as they two aren’t in the best of form. The bowlers have leaked runs at crucial phases in the last few games and they would look to work on that in the next game.

The weather is expected to clear and sunny on the 21st of March at Benoni, a welcome break from the spells of rain we have seen in this tournament. The pitch is expected to be good for the fast bowlers and a score of 270-280 runs will be a fighting total on this pitch.

Willowmoore Park, Benoni is known to be a competitive ground for both batsmen and bowlers. While bowlers enjoy the grass cover on the wicket the shorter boundaries also offer several scoring opportunities to the batsmen making it an interesting contest between the bat and ball.
