Titans to Win this game

  • Titans had won against the Warriors by a big margin in their previous game and shall carry that confidence into the next one.
  • Aiden Markram and Tony de Zorzi have been in great form with the bat for the Titans in the last few games.
  • Titans' bowlers Gregory Mahlokwana and Chris Morris are in very good form with the ball and shall look to continue the same way.

Our Prediction is for Titans to win this game!

The 18th game of Momentum One Day Cup 2019 would be an interesting one. The two best teams in the tournament Titans and Warriors would play each other. Warriors have been in great form this season and have lost only once out of their six games. The loss incidentally came in the last game against the Titans who won by a huge margin. Both the sides have good players which will surely make it a competitive one.

Titans have looked in great form in the last two games that they have played after an indifferent start to the season. Warriors aren’t likely hand them over another win which shall make this game interesting.

Titans Preview

Heinrich Klaasen would be relishing their last game’s win over the Warriors. The fact that it came against the best side would have made it special. As they take on the same team in the next game the skipper would want his side to keep up the momentum.

Aiden Markram blasted his way to a hundred in the last game while Tony de Zorzi was unlucky to have missed out on his by one run. In Dean Elgar, Heino Kuhn and Klassen they have a great batting line-up. The presence of powerful hitters like Farhaan Behardien and Chris Morris towards the end only strengthens their batting.

Chris Morris bowled brilliantly on a surface that was conducive to batting grabbing 3 wickets. He was well supported by Tshepo Moreki and Gregory Mahlokwana. Junior Dala has also picked up wickets this season and this makes them a tough bowling line-up to score against. If they manage to bowl with the same precision they will put up a good show in the upcoming game.

Titans Predicted Playing XI:

Heino Kuhn, Dean Elgar, Farhaan Behardien, Chris Morris, Aiden Markram, Junior Dala, Heinrich Klaasen (c & wk), Tshepo Moreki, Tony de Zorzi, Gregory Mahlokwana, Shimane Alfred Mothoa.

Titans Actual Playing XI:

Alfred Mothoa, TL Moreki, Heinrich Klaasen, Theunis de Bruyn, Junior Dala, Heino Kuhn, Farhaan Behardien, Chris Morris, Aiden Markram, Gregory Mahlokwana, Tony de Zorzi

Warriors Preview

The last loss against the Titans was against the run of form for JJ Smuts’ side. It was just one of those days when their bowlers didn’t deliver. As they take on the same side in the next game they would be hoping to correct the mistakes of the last game.

Smutts played a wonderful knock in the last game while Matthew Breetzke and Gihahn Cloete’s form opening the innings is bit of a concern for the side. Lesiba Ngoepe is also doing well for the side while Sinethemba Qeshile and Marco Marais performed brilliantly in the last game. They have the batting firepower and it remains to be seen how they put behind last game’s setback going into this one.

Lutho Sipamla’s form was quite impressive where he gave away just 40 runs from his 10 overs where the opponents scored 369 runs. Smutts also bowled well keeping his end tight in what was a great track to bat on. Andrew Birch and Sisanda Magala need to do well in the next game for the side to check the flow of runs.

Warriors Predicted Playing XI:

JJ Smuts (c), Andrew Birch, Gihahn Cloete (wk), Colin Ackermann, Lesiba Ngoepe, Sisanda Magala, Lutho Sipamla, Matthew Breetzke, Marco Marais, Sinethemba Qeshile, Glenton Stuurman.

Warriors Actual Playing XI:

Andrew Birch, Yaseen Vallie, Colin Ackermann, JJ Smuts, SSB Magala, Sinethemba Qeshile, Lutho Sipamla, Marco Marais, Matthew Breetzke, Glenton Stuurman, Gihahn Cloete

Weather Conditions

There are predictions of rain at Benoni on the 8th of March. The weather is expected to remain cloudy which will assist the fast bowlers. The pitch has been good one to bowl on and is expected to offer seam and swing to the fast bowlers. A score around the 270-280 mark will make it an interesting game.

Venue

Willowmoore Park, Benoni balances it out between the batsmen and the bowlers. With shorter square boundaries it is a good ground for batsmen who play the cut and pull well. Fast bowlers also do well on this track with the grass cover that we have seen over the years at this ground.

Toss: To Bowl

Given the fact that there is prediction for rain the team chasing the score should have advantage if the number of overs are cut due to rain. Also bowling first on this pitch would allow the side to make good use of the moisture on the surface and the team winning the toss should ideally bowl on this surface.

Titans and Warriors have both done well so far in the season. Going by the points table Warriors are sitting right at the top. But the side has its problems in terms of its bowling attack as its main bowlers are on national duty. Titans on the other hand come to this game with back to back wins and this will add to the strength of the team in the next game. We expect Titan to win!
