TKR and JT will face off for the second time this season. The last time these two teams met, Jamaica Tallawahs successfully defended 153 runs with Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir shining with the ball.
Knight Riders, after facing 3 successive defeats have managed to turn things around with a win over Guyana at their home venue in Trinidad. It was a brilliant piece of bowling from TRK which helped the Pollard-led side defend 150 runs.
Now the venue changes again and CPL moves to Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba in Trinidad. Though both Tallawahs and Knight Riders are coming into this match with a win, they’ve got batting concerns to deal with.
The bowlers are match-winners on both teams. Mohammad Amir, Imad Wasim, and Chris Green will be the key players for Jamaica Tallawahs. Whereas, Akeal Hossein, Sunil Narine, and Russell will be the ones to watch out for in TKR.
Colin Munro played a crucial knock for Trinbago in their last outing against GAW scoring 42 runs at number 3. Tim Seifert and Munro together added 51 runs for the 3rd wicket in a very slow partnership.
It may not have been an ideal batting performance from Knight Riders, but it should have given them some belief going into the next match. While Russell continues to fail with the bat in the lower order, the all-rounder delivered a match-winning spell while defending 150 runs.
Nicholas Pooran also got off to a good start following his fifty in the previous match. He scored 15 off 7 deliveries with 2 fours and a six but failed to convert it into a significant innings. There are a few promising names in this lineup - Munro, Seifert, Pooran, and Narine. Each of them has a different approach and role in the side.
Even without Pollard and Russell delivering a big inning, Knight Riders can still manage to win if these players can rise to the occasion. Moreover, with 6 to 7 bowling options, Pollard has a great variety to choose from.
Akeal Hossein, Dupavillon, Narine, and Rampaul can make a huge impact with the ball. The last TKR played against Jamaica, they restricted the Tallawahs to just 153 runs bowling first.
Nicholas Pooran, Tion Webster, Colin Munro, Tim Seifert (wk), Kieron Pollard (c), Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Akeal Hosein, Ravi Rampaul, Daryn Dupavillon, Jayden Seales

Tallawahs had a good start to the season winning 3 of their 4 wins so far in the first 4 CPL matches. Since then, they’ve been inconsistent with their performances and at this point will need to quickly find a way to fix things before the race to playoffs gets intense.
The bowlers have shown great promise but given how the batters delivered when they were put to bat first, we can’t expect the bowlers to save the match for Tallawahs.
In two of their last three matches, Jamaica lost the toss and were put to bat first. They scored 139-5 and 156-8 and lost on both occasions. There aren’t many consistent and reliable players in the JT batting lineup. If we were to pick the most likely players to deliver an impactful innings, it would be the skipper Rovman Powell at number 4 followed by Raymon Reifer.
These two have played crucial roles in rescuing Jamaica after a batting collapse and leading the team to a respectable total. Brandon King is another promising batter in the top order and can be a match-winner on his best day.
The bowling trio of Mohammad Amir, Imad Wasim, and Chris Green will be key to restricting the opposition to a par total. Wasim and Green are also handy with the bat lower down the order though not so reliable.
Brandon King, Amir Jangoo (wk), Shamarh Brooks, Rovman Powell (c), Raymon Reifer, Fabian Allen, Imad Wasim, Chris Green, Migael Pretorius, Mohammad Amir, Nicholson Gordon

The weather is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high of 26 degrees Celsius in Tarouba, Trinidad. The pitch will assist the spinners as the surface offers turn while no bounce and pace can be expected off the pitch.
The Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad is the venue for this CPL 2022 match. The average 1st innings score at this ground is 140 runs. Only 6 times have teams scored over 170 runs at this ground while on 16 occasions, teams have finished with totals less than 150 runs.
Only 1 T20 international was played at this venue and India won the match while defending 190 runs. Whereas, 17 of the 30 domestic matches played here were won by teams batting second. Both teams have failed to put a competitive total batting first and would be more comfortable chasing a target.
The batting has been a major concern for both teams with no reliable match-winning player in either side. However, Powell and Reifier are in slightly better form than the key players in the TKR setup. Knight Riders definitely have a solid bowling attack that has recently shown its ability to defend even a low target. As such, there is no clear favourite between the two sides. However, with a slightly better bowling attack and a batting lineup that shows some promise of a comeback, Knight Riders have a slight edge over JT and will be our favourites to win.
Our prediction is for Trinbago Knight Riders to win
