TUTI Patriots failed to make it to the finals last season after ending up in the fifth position in the points table. Washington Sundar will miss most of the tournament owing to his national commitment and it will be a big loss for the TUTI Patriots in both bowling and batting departments. Senior Players Rajagopal Sathish and Kaushik Gandhi will be required to play a vital role in the batting order. Defending Champions Madurai Panthers will start their TNPL 2019 campaign against a star-studded TUTI Patriots team.  Skipper Rohit will lead the team this season too and will look to retain the title. Arun Karthik was their star batsmen last season scoring 472 runs and was the leading run-scorer of the 2018 season. Shrijit Chandran, Thalaivan Sargunam, and Koushik added some vital runs and helped their team build partnerships in the middle. They form the core of the batting line-up along with Skipper Rohit and Arun Karthik. Abhishek Tanwar was the most consistent bowler for the Madurai team and he topped the wicket-takers chart last season. Lokesh Raj and Jagadeesan Kousik formed an excellent pace troika along with Abhishek Tanwar and took wickets at regular intervals. Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy and Rahil Shah will take over the spin bowling duties and will be expected to play a big role as the pitches get slower.
