The 28th game of the CSA T20 Challenge 2019 at Buffalo Park, East London would be the last league game for the Warriors and the Knights. Both the sides come into this game having lost their last game against the Dolphins and the Titans respectively. It has been a bad season so far for the Knights as they haven’t been able to register a single win so far. 

Over the last few years, Warriors have had a good record against the Knights and have won four out of the six games between the two sides. It remains to be seen if the Knights are able to register a win in the last game.

Warriors Preview

JJ Smut’s side wasted an opportunity to win against the Dolphins in the last game with ordinary bowling effort. Having already made it to the semi-final the side would be looking to try out all their tricks before they play the knock out games for the season. They had started the league phase with a bang and would like to finish it on the same note. 

Matthew Breetzke continues to look good and played well in the last game. Andrew Birch and Sisanda Magala have a wonderful partnership for the 7th wicket in the last game. But others in the top including Gihahn Cloete, JJ Smuts and Sinethemba Qeshile failed and they would be looking to do well in the next game.

The bowling attack has played poorly all this season and in the last game, Andrew Birch and Lutho Sipamla again went for runs. These two would need to gain their form ahead of the semifinals. Sisanda Magala and Sithembile Langa bowled well and would like to keep the same form going.

Knights Preview

As they play their last game of the season Petrus van Biljon’s team would expect for a good finish. It has been a bad season for the side where they haven’t been able to win a single game. They have failed to play as a unit and this is something they would be looking to work on in the next game. 

In their previous game against the Titans, the side has put up a decent score with Shadley van Schalkwyk and Raynard van Tonder. But others in the top order including Andries Gous, Patrick Kruger, Petrus van Biljon and Grant Mokoena failed. The team would need its top order to fire if they are to win the next game.  

It was their bowlers that let the side down in the previous game after having troubled the Titans’ top order. Ottniel Baartman and Gerald Coetzee wonderfully well at the start and got good support from Shadley van Schalkwyk but the rest of the bowlers leaked away runs. In the upcoming game, the skipper would want Luvuyo Adam and Ryan McLaren to bowl tighter lines.

Weather Conditions

The weather forecast for April 28 is of clear skies at East London and this will allow a game to happen after two of the previous games at this venue were washed out. The pitch should be a good one to bat on and the team batting first would eye a score in excess of 170 runs.

VENUE

The boundaries are small at Buffalo Park, East London and over the years we have seen big scores being put up at this ground. The bowlers also tend to get some early movement off the surface and this makes it a good ground for T20 cricket.
