Wellington is coming into this season on the back of finishing 3rd in the points table in the 2022-23 season. They got off to a very good start last season and would want the same for the upcoming season as well. They would want to up their performances and make a push for the finals right from the get-go, as the competition seems to be even tougher this season. 

Wellington seems to have one of the strongest squads on paper as they possess names of players who have proved their metal at the international stage. Their batting looks to be stacked with the likes of Devon Conway, Finn Allen, Rachin Ravindra, and Tom Blundell. A lot will rely on them if wellington wants to go far in this tournament. 

Their bowling might not look the strongest, but experienced all-rounder and New Zealand international James Neesham would play a big role in leading the bowling department. They look like a very balanced team with a batting-heavy squad and will look forward to this upcoming season and doing well.

Canterbury would have been extremely disappointed with how last season went, given they languished right at the bottom of the table. Coming into this season, they would want to turn that around and put up a fight and hope to make it to the finals against all odds. 

The squad for this season might not be the strongest, but it can spring up quite a few surprises. Players such as Tom Latham and Daryl Mitchell will have a huge responsibility in the batting department if the Canterbury squad wants to do well. Captain Cole McConchie will also have to take up ownership and have a great season if Canterbury wants to make it far this season.

The bowling department, however, seems a little bleak, with the only noticeable name being Matt Henry. A lot of responsibility and expectations will be set on Matt Henry as he will be heading this bowling department.
