Welsh Fire to win
Tournament: The Hundred Men | Format: 100-BALL CRICKET | Venue: Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, England | Toss: To Bowl
Bet NowIt is the 8th game of The Hundred, 2021 and the Welsh Fire would be up against the Southern Brave at their home ground Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. Welsh Fire won the last game against the Northern Superchargers, and this would make them confident going into this contest. As for the Southern Brave, they come here after suffering a massive loss against the Trent Rockets.
Southern Brave were completely outplayed in the last game where they lost by 9 wickets. The side struggled both with its batting and bowling in the game as most of their players looked rusty in the game. It remains to be seen if Southern Brave is able to make a comeback in this game and register their first victory of the season.
Jonny Bairstow’s side has started the tournament on a winning note. The side comes here after their 5-run win against the Northern Superchargers where their players held their nerves in the final moments to snatch a win after all had looked lost. Bairstow would now be aiming for the side’s second consecutive win in the tournament here.
Bairstow is in good form, and he’d aim to set up a good opening stand in the game with Tom Banton. The middle order has good experience for the side with Ben Duckett, Glenn Phillips and James Neesham in the side and all these players have good strike rates. Lower down the order Matthew Critchley, Ian Cockbain and Liam Plunkett are good at using the long handle and scoring quick runs.
Qais Ahmad made the difference in the last game with his 4 wickets and the side would have high expectations from him. Rest of the bowlers struggled with their line and lengths and hence the side would expect early wickets with the new ball from David Payne and Matthew Critchley. Jake Ball and Plunkett will have to play good supporting acts in this game.

James Vince’s side was literally blown away in the last game. It was poor efforts with the bat and the ball from the players that saw them going down by 9 wickets against the Trent Rockets. They will have to recover from this loss and win this game to earn their first points of the season.
The side would need a good start from Vince and Devon Conway after their failure in the last game. The middle order too struggled with Alex Davies, Delray Rawlins and Colin de Grandhomme not contributing much. They would need contributions down the order from Ross Whiteley, Liam Dawson and Chris Jordan as their top order isn’t in the best of form.
Their bowling attack was torn apart in the last game and the side would expect early wickets here from Tymal Mills and George Garton. Liam Dawson and Danny Briggs were expensive and have a very important role to play against the strong batting line-up that their opponents have. Jordan and de Grandhomme have to play good supporting acts.

The skies over Cardiff would have thick cloud cover on July 27 and there are chances of rain during the game. Batting conditions are expected to be challenging during this game and batsmen would have to be watchful. The side batting first would be happy with a score of 160 runs or above on this surface.
Sophia Gardens, Cardiff is one of the biggest grounds in England and this forces the batsmen to be watchful while playing big strokes. Fast bowlers do get good movement off the surface at this venue. Spinners have done well here in the past as the big size of the ground allows them to use their variations.
This wicket has produced lots of runs in the recent games that have been played and hence setting up a score here has always been a challenge for the side batting first. We expect the side winning the toss in this game to have little hesitation in bowling first.
Southern Brave have suffered a massive loss in their first game, and they would have to come out of this defeat to win here. Their batsmen and bowlers struggled in the last game, and they have to do well on both these counts here. Welsh Fire look in good form with the bat and playing at home they would start favorites in this game.
