Bet NowHost West Indies will be looking to finally turn their form around when they will face India in the second game of the T20I series in Florida on Sunday.
The home side will be desperate to their fortunes around after producing a dismal batting performance in the opening game of the series. Captain Carlos Brathwaite will be hoping that the side can put in a much-improved batting performance in order to compete with India in this contest.
On the other hand, India managed to register hard fought win over West Indies, courtesy splendid bowling performances from pace duo of Navdeep Saini and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Captain Virat Kohli will be pleased with his side’s performance against West Indies in the opening game of the series.
The home side suffered a four-wicket defeat at the hands of India in the opening game of the series played at Lauderhill in Florida. West Indies batting lineup clearly did not adjust to the conditions and perished at regular intervals to see them post a paltry of 95 runs from their 20 overs.
For West Indies, the opening pair of Evin Lewis and John Campbell will need to produce scores in this game. In the previous game, Lewis and Campbell perished for ducks to see the side get off to a worse possible start to their innings.
Wicket-keeper Nicholas Pooran also failed to capitalize on his good start and was dismissed by Navdeep Saini in the 5th over of the innings. Left-hander scored 20 off 16 balls with the help of two sixes.
All-rounder Kieron Pollard was the only bright spot for West Indies in the batting department. He showed a lot of patience and application to score run-a-ball 49 runs. Pollard smashed two fours and four sixes in his innings. It was due to his splendid innings that West Indies produced a paltry score on the board.
Middle-order comprising of Shimron Hetymer, Rovman Powell and Carlos Brathwaite also perished for single-digit scores in the previous game. Due to relatively inexperienced T20 squad, the likes of Hetmyer and Brathwaite will need to take a lot of responsibility and produce runs with the bat in this game.
Even lower-order duo of Sunil Narine and Keemo Paul failed to provide support to Pollard and perished for low scores to see West Indies fall into further trouble in their innings.
In the bowling department, the side will be relying on the likes of Sheldon Cottrell and Oshane Thomas to pick up wickets with the new ball. Cottrell was the standout for the side in the previous game and picked up the key wicket of Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli. Off-spinner Sunil Narine produced an economical bowling performance and finished with figures of 2 for 14 from his four overs.
