New Zealand Women sealed the T20I series against West Indies Women after clinching the thrilling 4th match, which went down to a Super Over. With this win, New Zealand Women have now won both the ODI and T20I series on this tour and have been the better side by some distance. West Indies Women will be heartbroken after the previous encounter but need to ensure they give their fans something to cheer about by winning the 5th and final T20I.
For a change, West Indies Women played better cricket than the opposition in the 4th match, but couldn’t close out the game. After restricting New Zealand Women for 111-4 in their 20 overs West Indies were cruising 52 for 2 in the 10th. However, wicketkeeper-batter Rashada Williams' run-out triggered a collapse and the home side lost their last 7 wickets for 59 runs to level the scores. New Zealand then hunted down 16 in the Super Over to break West Indies’ hearts.
The home side was once again let down by their batting. Chedean Nation was the top-scorer with her 23 off 28 balls lower down the order. The top and middle order failed again. Their bowling was better as leg-spinner Afy Fletcher (2-6 off 4 overs) and skipper Hayley Matthews (1-15 off 4 overs) kept the opposition’s batters under check.

New Zealand Women didn’t have the perfect game but they still managed to clinch the game. After being asked to bat first, they could post only 111-4 on a slow wicket. Amelia Kerr held the innings together with a solid unbeaten 49 off 47 balls. She’s now the team’s second-highest run-getter this series with 73 runs in 4 innings and an average of 24.33. Maddy Green heads the list with 74 runs in 4 innings at 24.66. While their top two haven’t really clicked in this series, the middle order has come to the rescue of the visitors more than once.
On the bowling front, Sophie Devine impressed with a spell of 3-29 from 4 overs. Jess Kerr (2-13 from overs) and Hayley Jensen (2-18 from 3 overs) were the other two who left a mark. The Kiwi bowlers have been consistently good on this pitch and will continue to pose a challenge to the batters. New Zealand may try some players from their bench in this match, particularly allrounder Brooke Halliday.

The pitch at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium has been disappointing. Batters from both sides have struggled to get going and make big scores on this surface, which remains two-paced. It’s perfectly suited for slower bowlers and spinners who enjoy its slow nature.
The weather in Antigua will be clear and pleasant today.
This has been a venue where scoring even 120 has been difficult throughout the series. The pitch does tend to play better in the second innings but there isn’t a significant difference. The team batting first should target a total of around 120-125 runs to feel absolutely safe.
The team winning the toss is likely to bat second.
New Zealand Women have by far been the better side this series. Their batting has plenty of depth while the variety in their bowling is commendable. The home side’s batting has repeatedly led them down. They have been overly dependent on skipper Hayley Matthews and Aaliyah Alleyne while the others haven’t shown any consistency. The Kiwis should be able to dominate the final encounter as well with the resources and confidence they have.
Back New Zealand Women to win this match.
