New Zealand Women continue their good show on the tour of the West Indies. They defeated the home side in the 2nd ODI to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. The Kiwis have been good in all the departments and have found answers from all the difficult situations they’ve been put under. West Indies Women haven’t been up to the task at all and would be hoping to avoid a 3-0 whitewash now.
West Indies Women have been found wanting this series. Their batting, particularly, has looked rusty and not up to international standards. For the second game running, the hosts struggled to put up a decent score after opting to bat first. They could only post 169-9 on the board and the Kiwis chased the target down with almost 10 overs to spare.
Barring skipper Hayley Matthews’ 46 off 80 balls, none of the main batters could make an impact. Chinelle Henry has been a revelation down the order and contributed again with a knock of 30 off 35 balls.
West Indies were better with their bowling and kept things tight throughout. Off-spinner Karishma Ramharack was the pick of the lot with a spell of 3-22 from 6 overs. New ball bowlers Shamilia Connell and Chinelle Henry have been the weak links of the unit and need to start picking some wickets at the start.

New Zealand Women have been excellent so far on this tour. Almost everyone has contributed at different points and they look like a well-balanced outfit. During the 2nd ODI, They were 51-3 while chasing the target of 170, with Suzie Bates, Sophie Devine, and Amelia Kerr back in the hut. This time, Maddy Green stepped up and played a responsible knock of 48 off 78 balls. Lauren Down (33 off 55 balls) was also very good on a tough wicket.
The Kiwi bowlers are really enjoying the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium pitch. Almost everyone chipped in again with wickets, but Eden Carson’s 3-31 was the performance of the match. Left-arm spinner Fran Jonas impressed again with a miserly spell of 1-17 from 10 overs. Seamer Hayley Jensen’s experience at the start has also been very handy. She has taken 3 wickets in the two matches at an economy of 5.35.

The pitch at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium has been on the slower side. Batting hasn’t been easy as the ball has gripped the surface a little and coming on slowly. Batters would have to show patience to survive on this wicket. Slower bowlers will again find plenty of help from this pitch.
A shower is expected in the afternoon in Antigua on the day of the match, but we should still get a full game.
The average total by the team batting first at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium is 227 in ODIs. The team batting second will have a slight advantage, as we have seen in this series. The team batting first should look to post a total of around 240-250 runs.
Both the matches in the series have been won by the chasing side. The team winning the toss is likely to field first.
New Zealand Women have been so clinical in this series. Every time they have been put under some sort of pressure, they have responded well both with the bat and the ball. In the 2nd ODI, they showed that they aren’t overwhelmingly dependent on their top three to bail them out all the time. West Indies Women, meanwhile, have been poor with the bat. Their bowling has been good but should have been better on this pitch.
Back New Zealand Women to complete a 3-0 whitewash.
