After winning the ODI series 2-1, New Zealand Women will now be eyeing a series win in the T20I series against West Indies Women. The 5-match series will be played at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. West Indies Women should put up a better performance in this series than they did in the ODIs.
West Indies Women will take confidence from their performance in the last match of the ODI series, which they won by 4 wickets. After losing the first two matches of the series, the hosts made a comeback and chased a target of 169 in 43.4 overs. Hayley Matthews led from the front once again with a composed 40 off 70 balls. She was the team’s best batter in the ODI series and will be crucial in the T20Is. West Indies will also be delighted that Stafanie Taylor is back in form. She scored an unbeaten 51 in the final ODI and she is one of the most experienced batters in T20Is in the world at the moment.
Skipper Matthews will also have a role to play in the bowling with her off-spin. Spinners Karishma and Ramharack Afy Fletcher were in good form in the ODI series and are expected to do well in the T20Is too as this pitch suits their bowling.

Despite losing the final ODI, New Zealand Women will be confident of their chances in the T20I series. They are ranked No.3 and have enough depth in their squad to challenge the home side in this format too. The batters and bowlers would have had got a good idea of the conditions now. Expect Sophie Devine, Suzie Bates, and Amelia Kerr to make an impact in the T20Is too. Maddy Green and Lauren Down have also shown good form.
New Zealand’s bowling has been sharp on this tour and their bowlers will continue to enjoy this pitch in the T20I series too. Jess Kerr has been the standout bowler for the Kiwis, picking up 5 wickets in 2 matches at an economy of 3.62. Left-arm spinner Fran Jonas was miserly in the ODIs, going at an economy of just 3.12. The team is likely to use her in the middle overs in this series.

The pitch at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium has proven to be difficult for batting on this tour. The ball tends to grip the surface and slower bowlers enjoy bowling here. Batters will have to try and get their eye in for a bit because striking from the get-go will not be easy.
The weather in Antigua on the day of the match will be pleasant and clear.
The average total by the team batting first at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium is only 128. The pitch is slow but does tend to get a little easier to bat on by the second half. The team batting first must look to post a total of around 130 runs.
This ground has suited the chasing side more in recent times. The team winning the toss is likely to bat second.
New Zealand Women have won 4 of the last 5 T20Is they have played against West Indies Women (one match was abandoned). They look to be more balanced and have more depth in their batting. West Indies will enjoy the shorter format more but their batting woes might let them down again. They are too dependent on a couple of batters to make a difference and need the others to step up.
New Zealand Women should start the T20I series with a win.
