The T20i series is done and dusted and hosts West Indies women have delivered a killer blow to Pakistan Women winning the series 3-0. The action now moves to the 5-match ODI series where the two teams would meet at the Coolidge Cricket Ground, Antigua. Pakistan Women would like to keep the results of the T20 series behind and focus on getting a good start to the ODI series. 

Pakistan Women batters struggled in the T20 series and none of their players stood up to the challenge. All their batters have been scoring at poor rates and this is a huge problem as they are up against one of the most aggressive batting sides in the world. It would be interesting to see if they are able to turn it around with a change in the format of the game.

West Indies Women Preview

Stafanie Taylor would be extremely proud of the effort of her players during the T20 series. The West Indies skipper would like to carry this momentum forward and start the ODI series with win. Should be aware of the weaknesses of the Pakistani woman batters and look to exploit the opportunities.

The side would be looking for a good start in the game from Hayley Matthews and Deandra Dottin in this game as both these players have their range of strokes. In the middle order Taylor is looking good and she would look to steer the innings along with Kyshona Knight and Chedean Nation. They have good hitters of the ball in Kycia Knight and Britney Cooper, and they would be tasked with scoring quick runs.

On the bowling front the side would be looking for a good show with the new ball from Shamilia Connell and Aaliyah Alleyne in this game. Taylor comes here after a brilliant show in the last game and along with Anisa Mohammed adds experience to this attack. With Matthews and Shakera Selman in the mix, the side has good variety in the bowling department.

Javeria Khan would be terribly upset with the performance of her players in the T20 series. They not only lost all the games but did not put up a stiff challenge for their opponents. Khan would be aware of her side’s poor record in West Indies in the past and shall look to break free from this poor record. 

The side will have to get a good start at the top from Muneeba Ali and Javeria Khan in this game as this was one of the major problem areas for the side during the T20s. In the middle order the likes of Nida Dar, Aliya Riaz and Iram Javed need to build partnerships and score runs at a good pace. Down the order the side would look for runs from Ayeshan Naseem and Sidra Nawaz. 

Their bowling attack has done relatively well so far on this tour, and they must win it for the side. Diana Baig and Anam Amin have lots of experience and they must bring it to play for the side to win this game. Fatima Sana, Nashra Sandhu and Nida Dar have bowled tight spells so far and the same would be expected from them in this game.

There would be odd clouds in the sky over Antigua on July 07 and the wicket would be slow where the ball would dip on the batters as we have seen in the last game at this venue. Batters would have to accumulate runs and be patient. The side batting first would be happy to get 250 runs on the board.

Coolidge Cricket Ground, Antigua is a small park and batters can score runs freely on this surface. Fast bowlers do get some early aid from the surface, and they need to mix up their pace here. Spinners who are known for having variety in their line and length have done well at this venue.

Toss: To Bat

The wicket is expected to be a good one to bat on early in the game and it would get slower as the game progresses. Chasing a big score here would be a challenge for either side and hence we expect the side winning the toss to have no hesitation in batting first on this surface.
