Pakistan Women’s last bet at saving the series
West Indies Women to win
Nothing has gone their way so far and Pakistan Women were once again blown apart in the 2nd game of the 5-match ODI series. The side failed with the bat once again to hand over an easy win to the hosts West Indies. They are now staring at a series loss and the kind of form we have seen from the side so far wouldn’t inspire much of confidence in the team and well as among their fans.
None of the batters have stood up to the challenge for Pakistan Women so far and they aren’t learning from their mistakes. They have been getting out to poor shots and they can least afford that in this must-win game. West Indies Women would be high on confidence leading up to this game and they are unlikely to pass any favors to the visitors here.
Stafanie Taylor’s side has taken a comfortable 2-0 lead in the 5-match series with an easy win in the last game. Their bowlers kept the opponents to a small total in the last game and batters were clinical in their chase. As the side goes into the next game Taylor would be looking to clinch the series considering the form Pakistan is in at the moment.
Openers Hayley Matthews and Kyshona Knight did well in the last game and the same would be expected from them here. In the middle order the side has good strength with Taylor, Deandra Dottin and Kycia Knight known for their hitting abilities. In the lower middle order, the side is blessed to have capable batters in the form of Anisa Mohammed, Shamilia Connell and Britney Cooper.
The bowling attack has looked good right through this series against Pakistan Women. Shamilia Connell and Shakera Selman didn’t allow the visitors to score runs in the last game and the same would be expected from them here. Mohammad bowled brilliantly in the last game along with Karishma Ramharack and Matthews. With Taylor bringing in lot of experience the side has a bowling attack that the visitors would find difficult to score against.

Javeria Khan doesn’t seem to have clue on turning the fortunes of her side in this tour. Their batters look completely out of form, and they were bundled out for mere 120 runs in the last game. With a series loss hanging over their shoulders right now the Pakistani girls would have to battle it hard in the ground to avoid losing another ODI series in straight games.
Muneeba Ali and Ayesha Zafar must lay a strong platform opening the batting which hasn’t been the case so far. Javeria Khan must bring her experience to good use and set up partnerships with Omaima Sohail and Nida Dar in the middle order. Runs would also be expected from the likes of Aliya Riaz and Sidra Nawaz considering the in-form bowling attack that West Indies has.
Pakistan Women bowlers haven’t have had much to play with so far, but they have fared better than their batters. The side would expect early breakthroughs from the experienced pair of Fatima Sana and Diana Baig. Nida Dar bowled brilliantly in the last game and shall carry that confidence forward. The side would also expect tight spells from Nashra Sandhu and Sadia Iqbal.

The skies over Antigua would be slightly cloudy on July 12. We expect to see the track on the slower sides and batters would have to get accustomed to the pace of the surface to score runs here. The side batting first would be happy with any score above 250 runs on this track.
Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua has a good surface for the batters and those willing to spend time on the crease have done well at this venue. Fast bowlers get some assistance with the new ball. Spinners have enjoyed good record here in the past as the track offers sharp turn and bounce.
In both the games so far we have seen the side chasing the score winning the game comfortably. The track hasn’t changed much in the second innings and known a victory target works in favor of batters. Thus, we expect to see the side winning the toss here opting to bowl first.
‘Disappointing’ would be the only word to describe the performance of Pakistan Women in this tour so far. They have hardly offered any competition to West Indies Women. It is their batting that has let them down in all the games so far and none of their batters have stood up to the challenge. West Indies Women on the other hand are firing the big guns and considering the difference in form between the two sides, they would start favorites in this game.
