In the last series against Srilanka, Zimbabwe gave a strong fight to the Sri Lankan team but failed to claim the series in the last match. Sikandar Raza had supported him with his crucial 56 runs from 46 balls to set up a target of 302 runs in front of Srilanka. While defending the target of 303 runs, Tendai Chatara and Blessing Muzarabani, both took 3 wickets each to restrict opponents and helped their team to win the game.

After whitewashing Ireland in the ODI series, Afghanistan lost their previous series against Bangladesh by 2-1. They will now face Zimbabwe in away conditions where they will try to set up a historical ODI series win against the hosts.
While playing against Bangladesh in the last ODI series, Afghanistan failed to perform well with the bat. With the help of Najibullah Zadran’s 67 runs from 84 balls, they had put only 215 runs on the board which was chased easily by Bangladesh’s batters. In the 2nd match also, only Najibullah Zadran (54 runs from 61 balls), managed to put up some runs while chasing 302 runs.
After losing the first 2 games of the series, Afghanistan fought well in the last match to avoid a whitewash. Rashid Khan bowled a brilliant spell of 3 wickets for 37 runs in his 10 overs and Bangladesh could only manage to score 192 runs. While chasing that total, Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored a brilliant century and helped his team to register a win with his 106 runs from 110 balls.

The Harare Sports Club in Harare will host this match. This ground is considered a home ground of Zimbabwe and has conducted a few international as well as local domestic games previously. This stadium can accommodate a total of 10,000 people.
This ground has conducted 154 ODIs so far and offered an advantage to batters in a few previous matches. The team who has opted to bowl first here has delivered better than the batting team as in the past 10 ODIs, the chasing team has managed 6 times. At this location, whichever team wins the toss will want to bowl first and chase.
Afghanistan have a balanced squad for this series against Zimbabwe. They have a good batting depth as well as key spin bowlers in the squad to put pressure on Zimbabwe’s batting unit. On the other side, Zimbabwe’s middle order is quite new and it might struggle in front of Afghanistan’s experienced bowling unit and that is why Afghanistan have an upper hand in this fixture.
We predict that Afghanistan will defeat Zimbabwe.
