After crushing Bangladesh for the first time in a T20I series, Zimbabwe is set to host them for a three-match ODI series. The first ODI of the series will be played at Harare Sports Club, Harare on 5th August from 12:45 pm. A 2-1 win in the T20I series has boosted Zimbabwe’s confidence to replicate the heroics to win their first ODI series against the visitors for the first time in 16 years.

Zimbabwe’s last ODI series win came back in 2019 against UAE. Since then, they have lost most of the ODIs. In January, Zimbabwe beat Sri Lanka by 22 runs - their only win in 6 ODIs this year. They lost the ODI series against Afghanistan by 3-0 at home. Sikandar Raza (145 runs) and Blessing Muzarabani (7 wickets) were the only two standouts in the series.

Bangladesh have 3 ODI series wins this year. They beat Afghanistan 2-1 at home. In March, Bangladesh beat South Africa for the first time in South Africa to take the series 2-1. After this gigantic win, they whitewashed West Indies in West Indies by 3-0. With the qualification race for the 2023 ICC World cup hitting up, Bangladesh are at the second position in the points table with 120 points in 18 games. That’s almost qualification!

Bangladesh Visited Zimbabwe last year for a 3-match ODI series. They won all three games. Shakib Al Hasan took 8 wickets in the series at an average of 14.75 and also scored 145 runs with the bat to take the Man of the Series trophy. This was their 11th consecutive ODI series win against Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe Preview

Zimbabwe will open with Innocent Kaia and Wesley Madhevere. Kaia made his debut against Afghanistan in the last series and finished with 118 runs in 3 matches.
