Arsenal’s title race is back on track, thanks to a thrilling win over Newcastle last weekend. The Gunners were impressive and they have kept the gap between them and Manchester City at one point.

Pep Guardiola’s men have a game in hand, but Arsenal must do everything they can to keep the pressure up at the top.

One thing for certain is that they won’t have it easy here. If they are to steal the title ahead of City, they’ll have to overcome a very tough opponent indeed.

Brighton have been one of the league’s best teams away from home this season and are possibly the last team you want to play, other than City, when you need victory.

The Seagulls’ form has been up and down of late, including a shock 5-1 defeat to relegation strugglers Everton last weekend. They can produce a big result of their own when they need to, however.

Arsenal FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful:

Back-to-back victories has brought them back into the title race

One more win will equal the club record of 26 for a season

Reasons to be fearful:

Have lost three of their last four at home to Brighton

Only kept three clean sheets at home this season

The Gunners are closing in on an exceptional season in terms of wins, goals and points claimed at home and on their travels.

It may not be enough to overhaul Manchester City, but then few teams have been able to do that over the past decade.

Another win would equal their club record for a season of 26, matching two seasons in the early 2000s when they went on to win the title. They’re also two short of 100 goals for the season.

In terms of this game, they’ve won five of their last six at home, although lost three of their last four against Brighton.

It’s one of the toughest fixtures you can imagine when needing victory, but Mikel Arteta’s men know nothing other than going for the win here.

Star Man – Martin Odegaard

Odegaard has consistently stepped up for Arsenal this season, relishing the captain’s armband. He has three goals in his last two games, coinciding with two wins for the Gunners.

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

Would be 4th on away form this season

Great record at the Emirates in recent season

Reasons to be fearful

Could lose consecutive games after 5-1 defeat to Everton

Won just one of their six away games against top-half teams

Brighton gave us one of the shock results of the season so far last weekend, when they suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat to relegation candidates Everton.

The Seagulls haven’t been on the end of too many damaging defeats this season, and it’ll be interesting to see how they respond with five games of the season remaining.

Five wins, including their games in hand, would take them above Aston Villa and Tottenham into 6th place, which would grant them entry into the Europa League next season.

They also have a great away record this season, proving that they’ll be a fierce competitor here. Anything that Arsenal get from this game, they’ll have to fight for it.

Star Man – Alexis Mac Allister

The Argentine could hold his head high despite Brighton’s heavy defeat to Everton last weekend. He scored another goal in what was his 12th of the season.

     Should be a fascinating game

     Three or more goals

Arsenal need to win here to stay in the title race

Arsenal’s title run-in was never going to be easy, and this will be their toughest game remaining.

They simply have to win here to keep pace with Manchester City, although Brighton will prove a stern test.
