For many clubs, we have seen their fortunes change dramatically over the space of a few weeks at various points this season.

Arsenal’s last month or so has seen an incredible turnaround in their form. Having struggled through seven matches without a win, The Gunners have now won their last three league matches, as well as their FA Cup game at the weekend.

Their younger players have injected life into the team once again, although their wins have come against two sides in the bottom four and a struggling Chelsea team. They remain in the bottom half of the table, too.

As for Crystal Palace, they continue to look destined to finish midway inside the bottom half of the table, just too inconsistent to climb higher.

Their front three is impressive, but their win over Sheffield United is their only victory in eight matches.

Arsenal are favourites to continue their good form here.

Arsenal FC Preview

Form Guide (all comps): LWWWW

Reasons to be cheerful:

Confidence is growing after four straight wins

Thomas Partey should be fit to return after injury

Reasons to be fearful:

Haven’t beaten Palace in past four meetings

Have gone 11 home games without a clean sheet

Confidence must be high at Arsenal football club right now.

Three league wins on the bounce, through to the next round of the FA Cup after edging past Newcastle last weekend, and some real optimism surrounding several extremely promising young players coming through.

Bukaro Saka has been a fixture in the first team for much of the season so far, but now the likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Joe Willock are coming to the fore and performing excellently.

The Gunners are also scoring at a better rate than they have done so far this season – knocking three past Chelsea and then four past West Brom means that they now have a positive goal difference.

They are still yet to face a top-performing side since they have found form, and their match against table-toppers Manchester United at the end of January will be a real test.

Star Man – Alex Lacazette

Arsenal’s top scorer this season could score in four consecutive games for the Gunners.

Crystal Palace Preview

Form Guide (all comps): LLDWL

Reasons to be cheerful:

Win over Sheffield United got them back to winning ways

     Unbeaten in four against Arsenal

Reasons to be fearful:

Only three teams have conceded more goals

Fewer than a goal a game scored over last six matches

Earlier in the season, the term “you never know which Palace you’re going to get” was a reasonable thing to say.

One game they could be brilliant, the next a little disappointing. Unfortunately for Palace supporters, those brilliant performances have somewhat dried up and, their win over bottom side Sheffield United aside, are struggling for wins.

They appear to have recovered slightly from their two thrashings at the end of 2020, going down 7-0 to Liverpool before being handed a 3-0 defeat by Villa.

The Eagles certainly have cause for optimism against Arsenal – Roy Hodgson is famous for getting the best out of his players on the big occasions, and Palace have not lost a game against the Gunners from their last four meetings.

Star Man – Eberechi Eze

The 22-year old’s brilliant solo goal against Sheffield United proves how quickly he has warmed to the Premier League.

     Arsenal to boss possession

     Lacazette or Aubameyang to score

Palace will have chances of their own

With Arsenal’s confidence running high, they will come into this match with the intention of dominating right from the off.

Palace must weather the early storm and take the opportunity to counter when they can.

The Gunners are certainly favourites for this one, though there is still some way to go to convince people they are back for good.

Arsenal to win 2-0
